Introduction

The Medi-Shot is a healing item introduced to Counter-Strike 2 in the February 17, 2016 update for Operation Wildfire. It reappeared in the December 6, 2018 update for the Danger Zone mode and has since been incorporated into Arms Race and Deathmatch.

Overview

The Medi-Shot, a healing item specific to Co-op Strike, Danger Zone, Deathmatch, and Arms Race, is an auto-injecting syringe. Activating it by pressing the primary fire button restores 50 health points over 2 seconds. In Co-op Strike, players start with three Medi-Shots and can carry up to four, with additional shots available sparsely during missions. The enemy AI does not use Medi-Shots. In Danger Zone, players start with one Medi-Shot and can find more in crates or from other players. In Deathmatch, players receive one Medi-Shot for every three kills, with a maximum of one in their inventory at any time.

 
 

Tactics

  • Share Medi-Shots with teammates if they run low, but always keep at least two for yourself.
  • Medi-Shots are not dropped upon death, making it unwise to die with a full inventory of four shots since players respawn with the default three.
  • Save Medi-Shots for tough opponents like the Heavy Phoenix or challenging mission sections involving swarms of enemies.

Bugs & Exploits

  • After Operation Wildfire, dropping a Medi-Shot may cause a warning that the player has dropped their knife, and the item may be mislabeled as a knife.
  • If a player has no other weapons and multiple Medi-Shots, the next Medi-Shot may not display until drawn again or used.

Console Commands

  • healthshot_health: Default 50 - Amount of health restored.
  • healthshot_allow_use_at_full: Default 1 - Allows use even at full health.
  • healthshot_healthboost_time: Default 0 - Duration of health boost.
  • healthshot_healthboost_damage_multiplier: Default 1.0 - Damage multiplier during health boost.
  • healthshot_healthboost_speed_multiplier: Default 1.0 (1.2 for Danger Zone) - Speed multiplier during health boost.
  • ammo_item_limit_healthshot: Default 4 - Maximum Medi-Shots carried.
  • mp_ggprogressive_healthshot_killcount: Default 3 - Kills required to earn a Medi-Shot in Arms Race.
  • mp_tdm_healthshot_killcount: Default 3 - Kills required to earn a Medi-Shot in Deathmatch.
 
 

Trivia

  • A similar item, the Portable Medkit, was cut from the Deleted Scenes.
  • The Medi-Shot's icon and model resemble the cut Adrenaline item, which used a model from Left 4 Dead 2, though in CS, the needle is injected into the chest rather than the leg.
  • The Medi-Shot icon was added to the game files on December 8, 2015.
