Anubis
Anubis (de_anubis) is a custom bomb planting gameplay map developed by the trio Roald, jakuza and jd40. She was included in Counter-Strike 2 as part of an update on March 31, 2020, along with Chlorine. Anubis originally debuted in Scrimmage mode and was later integrated into the official map set, replacing Dust II.
History of the map's creation
If you are ever asked what is the youngest map in Counter-Strike 2 from the official map pool of the game, feel free to say Anubis. This is due to the fact that the map first appeared in CS:GO, and was later transferred to CS2.
A list of everyone who worked on creating this map for our favorite game is as follows:
- Roald van der Scheur
- Yakuza
- jd40
- Valve Corporation
It is worth noting that Anubis instantly became the favorite card of many professional and other players. The map design is very similar to Dust 2 or something like that. But the construction of the map is unique.
Basic information
On April 10, 2020, just ten days after its debut, Anubis was moved from Scrimmage to Competitive, becoming the second card to make the transition since Scrimmage was introduced, following the updated Cache. On May 3, 2021, the map was temporarily removed from the game, but returned a year later in an update on August 16, 2022, marking the 10th anniversary of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Following the IEM Rio 2022 Major, Anubis was included in the Active Duty Group on November 18, 2022, becoming the second custom card to earn a spot on this prestigious list after Cache.
Bomb sites on Anubis
Site A is located to the left of the counter-terrorist spawn area, covering the area around the cylindrical element. The main route for terrorists is the entrance directly from their spawn point, known as A Main, and a second route that runs through the center of the map. This route leads to a passage leading to the site area, where terrorists can effectively control the Heaven area and the entire site. For their part, counter-terrorists can defend site A from positions such as Heaven, as well as from adjacent zones or through the A Connector. For a more aggressive defense, they can take positions near Plat or at the A Main entrance.
Site B is located on the right side of where the counter-terrorists spawn and is organized around an obelisk. Terrorists have access to the site through two entrances: B main and B connector (sometimes called Secret). The counter-terrorists have two main routes to counterattack Site B, both approaching it from similar directions. At the same time, counter-terrorists also have the opportunity to capture the site using the terrorists' entrances, either bypassing their spawn point, or moving through the middle of the map.
Interesting Facts
The name of the card, "Anubis", is inspired by the name of an ancient Egyptian deity, hinting at its possible location in Egypt, although the exact details of this are not specified. Since its creation by the community and subsequent inclusion in Active Duty on November 18, 2022, the map has been managed and owned by Valve, as is standard practice for maps included in the game's official competitive match cycle.

Anubis in CS2
With the transition of the game to Counter-Strike 2, Anubis took on a new lease of life due to the changed lighting and reflections. In addition, professional players often choose this particular map, but for example, Inferno and Mirage have faded into the background due to the dominance of Anubis in tier-1 championships.
