Five-SeveN
“Highly accurate and armor-piercing, the pricy Five-Seven is a slow-loader that compensates with a generous 20-round magazine and forgiving recoil.” ― Official description
Review
The Five-SeveN, also known as the FN Five-seven and formerly the ES Five-seven, is a famous pistol in the world of Counter-Strike.
The story of Five-SeveN begins in Belgium, where it was developed by FN Herstal. In the initial versions of Counter-Strike, the pistol is presented in its original appearance, but the version for Global Offensive took the USG modification as a basis.
This pistol became exclusive to the special forces team and remained so for many years, until the moment when, with the release of Global Offensive, terrorists were temporarily able to use it. But on January 23, 2013, the developers again made it available only for CT.
Some of the key advantages of the Five-SeveN are its rate of fire, accuracy and large magazine capacity. However, in early versions of the game it was not very popular due to its low damage, high price and long reload time. However, Global Offensive loved it for its improved characteristics: it began to deal more damage and reload faster, and its cost became comparable to the Tec-9 used by terrorists.
In previous games in the series, the presence of Five-SeveN and P90 in the arsenal allowed the use of a total supply of 100 cartridges, thanks to the same calibers. This feature was removed in Global Offensive, but initially there was a bug with Five-SeveN, which was then fixed in April 2015.
In terms of tactics, the Five-SeveN's first two shots have virtually no recoil, making it ideal for quick headshots. This method is especially effective in Global Offensive. It's also worth noting that the pistol's ammunition is less hampered by body armor, making it a good choice against armed opponents.
Despite his initial unpopularity, Five-SeveN has earned respect among players due to his power and versatility in the latest version of the game, Global Offensive, where he can kill opponents with a single headshot at close range, despite wearing armor.
Interestingly, in previous versions of Counter-Strike, Five-SeveN was one of the few weapons that did not guarantee an instant kill when hit in the head at close range. And in Global Offensive, its draw and reload animations are the same as those of the P2000, P250 and Glock-18. This pistol remains one of the few that retained its actual name until the latest versions of the game, along with weapons such as the Maverick M4A1 Carbine and MAC-10.
