Danger Zone

Danger Zone

"Danger Zone" is a Battle Royale mode that was added to CS2in the update of December 6, 2018. In this mode, up to 18 players battle in a single arena, gathering equipment and fighting to be the last survivor.

"Introducing Danger Zone — a dynamic Battle Royale mode built on CS2's tactical gameplay where players use their brains, skills, and resources to win the battle." —Official description

Gameplay

In "Danger Zone," players search for equipment and engage in combat with each other in an ever-shrinking arena. The last surviving player or team wins. Up to 18 players can participate, either solo or in squads.

This mode takes place on large open maps specially designed for "Danger Zone." The map is divided into hexagonal zones. At the beginning of the game, players select a zone for their spawn. After the game starts, participants are dropped into their chosen zone. Players start unarmed, equipped only with their fists, a Medi-Shot, a tablet for viewing the map and purchasing items, and one item of the player's choice.

After the game starts, participants must gather weapons and equipment and fight to the last. The safe zone on the map narrows, forcing players to come closer together and engage in combat more frequently.

There is no traditional respawning in "Danger Zone." Players can only respawn in squad mode if their teammate is alive.

Traditional item purchasing is also absent. Additional weapons and equipment can be found in random locations on the map or purchased with cash through the tablet, after which a drone will deliver them to you.

Supply crates scattered around the map contain weapons and equipment that can be accessed by breaking them open. Crates with weapons, grenades, or Medi-Shots can be opened with fists or other weapons. Crates with primary weapons require some form of weapon (melee weapon, pistol, or grenade) to be opened.

In addition to supply crates, cash can be found on the map for purchasing additional weapons. Each found bundle of cash brings $50. Moving to another hexagonal zone and staying there for a short period awards $100. Surviving the expansion of the "Danger Zone" grants a $700 bonus.

Locked gates can also be found on the map, which can be opened for a certain amount of money or blown up with explosives. Safes containing money, wrapped in explosives, are also present. Activating the explosives destroys the safe, allowing the player to take the money.

At the end of the game, large crates containing better weapons are dropped from the sky.

A ranking system for "Danger Zone" was introduced in the update of July 22, 2019. Unlike "Wingman" and "Competitive" matchmaking, players of all ranks are combined in one game (instead of trying to place players of specific ranks in the same match).

"Danger Zone" is now divided into ranked and unranked modes. In ranked mode, players' ranks are visible and heavily influence opponent matching, while in unranked mode, players' ranks are hidden, and there are no restrictions on rank for teaming up.

Ranked "Danger Zone" is only available to players with Prime status, while unranked mode is available to both non-Prime and Prime players.

Danger Zone in Counter-Strike 2

After the release of Counter-Strike 2, which occurred on September 27, 2023, Valve has not yet implemented the "Danger Zone" mode into the game. However, there are many signs indicating that this mode may soon be implemented. Developers have already added various lines to the game code and introduced new items into the game files, clearly hinting at the future appearance of this mode.
