Inferno

Inferno

Inferno (de_inferno) is a bomb defusing map introduced in the Counter-Strike series.

History

It’s hard to disagree with the fact that Inferno is the most ancient map in the Counter-Strike series, since over more than 23 years of history the map has not changed at all in terms of geometry. And all because of its unique style, which the players almost immediately liked.

The Inferno map first appeared in Counter-Strike 1.1, and now in Counter-Strike 2 we see its latest version. To summarize, this card was presented in the following versions of our favorite game:

  • Counter-Strike
  • Counter-Strike Xbox Edition
  • Counter-Strike: Condition Zero
  • Counter-Strike: Source
  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
  • Counter-Strike 2

Throughout its entire evolution, Counter-Strike has created ormade efforts to change:

  • Chris Cars
  • Ritual Entertainment
  • Turtle Rock Studios
  • Hidden Path Entertainment
  • Valve Corporation

Review

This game level is located in a small town, characterized by architecture typical of Europe. In the Global Offensive version of the game, the presence of the Separatist faction indicates that the action takes place in Italy, which is confirmed by the presence of signs in Italian throughout the level. However, the faction mentioned is also active in regions such as the Basque Autonomous Community in Spain and France, which suggests the possibility of its location in these places.

The map has a roughly rectangular structure, with counter-terrorist and terrorist spawn locations located in opposite diagonal corners, while two bomb sites are located in the remaining corners.

Official description

Terrorists are trying to blow up two critical gas pipelines through part of a small village.

  • Counter-terrorists: Prevent terrorists from destroying pipelines.
  • Terrorists: Destroy two gas pipes.
  • Other notes: There are 2 bomb sites in this mission.

Mission history

In September 2016, the Separatists received information about a secret government trading operation that was to take place in a small town in Italy. Although the exact location remained unknown, they rigged two key locations with explosive devices with the goal of intercepting the deal and capturing valuable intelligence information or items.

On 13 October, as the Separatists prepared to detonate their explosive devices, they were confronted by SAS agents tasked with checking the security of the area before carrying out the exchange. This unexpected setback forced them to move to Plan B - blowing up the shopping area using C4, thereby compromising the area and forcing the government to postpone the planned operation to a later date.

Development history

The development of the map in Counter-Strike has gone through several significant stages, from its creation to the latest updates in Counter-Strike 2.

  • 1.1: Created by Chris "Barney" Auty, the map originally featured an abandoned home set in the evening.
  • 1.3: New areas have been added inside the map, including interior areas near T Apartments and near the CT (Library) spawn point. Bomb point A has been moved, giving it a permanent location.
  • 1.6: Valve has made adjustments to the map, updating textures for more color variety and adding elements such as lamps. The theme of the map was changed to rural, and the action time was moved to noon.
  • Condition Zero: Developed by Ritual Entertainment, the map has received an expansion and a complete overhaul of textures taken from the Motorcade Assault mission. The duration of action was set at night.

  • Counter-Strike: Source: This version was a complete rethinking of the original with numerous improvements. The theme was transformed into a living village, and the original crates on the bomb points were replaced with straw cubes and a fish pond. The map became more complex and offered more camping options.
  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive: This version of the map made visual improvements, but the basic structure remained similar to the Source version. Some changes were made to the names of bomb sites and new elements were added, such as barrels for storing nuclear waste.
  • Counter-Strike 2: With the transition to the new version of the game, the map received updated textures and lighting, and new interactive objects were added, making it brighter and more vibrant.

Each stage of map development reflects the developers' desire to update and improve the gaming experience by making changes to design, textures and game mechanics.

Interesting Facts

  • Music playing at the terrorist base: Carcelera - Reflejo Andaluz.
  • There are chickens on this map, but the chicken coop is missing in the new version of the map, now it is logically not clear where the chickens on the map come from.
  • Previously (before the map update on October 14, 2016), there were bells at the terrorist base that you could “ring” by shooting at them. Now in their place there is only a chalk drawing as a reminder.
  • At the terrorist base there is a small bell that you can “beat” by shooting at it.
  • In Counter-Strike 2, the bells are back in place.
  • At the base there is a game “Tic Tac Toe”, which any player can play by shooting at squares.
  • In Counter-Strike 2, Tic-Tac-Toe has been removed.
