Hostage Scenario (Hostage Rescue)

Hostage Scenario (Hostage Rescue)

In the "Hostage Rescue" mode in Counter-Strike 2, two teams compete, aiming to achieve their objectives to win the round. For the counter-terrorists (CTs), objectives include rescuing at least one hostage or eliminating all terrorists before the round time expires. Unlike previous versions of the game, where more than half of the hostages had to be rescued provided that no hostages remained alive or unsaved, in CS2, it is sufficient to rescue any hostage.

On the other hand, terrorists must either prevent the counter-terrorists from rescuing the hostages, holding them until the end of the round time, or eliminate all counter-terrorists.

The "Hostage Scenario" in CS2 is one of the two "classic" game modes alongside the "Bomb Scenario." This mode is available in both casual and competitive gameplay rules, offering players diverse strategies and approaches to completing missions depending on the chosen side.

Gameplay

In the "Hostage Rescue" game mode in CS2, the primary task of the counter-terrorists is to rescue hostages, who are initially placed near the terrorists' spawn point.

To free the hostages, counter-terrorists need to interact with them by approaching a hostage and pressing the use key, after which they must lead them to the hostage rescue zone, usually located near the counter-terrorists' spawn point. A secondary objective, guaranteeing victory for any team, is to eliminate all members of the opposing team. If the round time expires, terrorists win by default.

When a counter-terrorist begins interacting with hostages, a small amount of money is awarded. After successfully evacuating a hostage to the rescue point, the counter-terrorist is awarded a significantly larger monetary reward.

The round time is 2 minutes. When carrying a hostage, the counter-terrorist's movement speed is significantly reduced, but as compensation, an additional minute is added to the round time. Hostages are immune to any damage, but firing at them still incurs a penalty for using weapons for both sides.

Additional Information

In CS2, in the "Hostage Rescue" mode, counter-terrorists need to save hostages by leading them to the rescue zone. Hostages in this version of the game are resistant to fall damage, allowing counter-terrorists to safely move them through various obstacles. Important gameplay aspects include:

  • Rescue kits (Defusal kits) significantly speed up the process of evacuating hostages
  • The use of explosives and incendiary devices near hostages is not recommended due to the risk of inflicting damage and incurring penalties
  • Counter-terrorists receive a monetary reward for interacting with hostages
  • In case of extreme necessity and when it is impossible to save all hostages, counter-terrorists may decide to kill some hostages to win the round, but this should be done cautiously due to potential financial and gameplay consequences

These key points highlight the strategic and tactical approach to completing hostage rescue missions in CS2, where every action has significance and can influence the outcome of the round.
