Minecraft Bedrock Edition has released update 1.21.80, which includes new flat world presets, significant Realms improvements, experimental gameplay features, and numerous bug fixes aimed at enhancing the overall gaming experience.
Below you can find detailed information about the main changes and innovations.
Update Features and Bug Fixes
The latest Minecraft Bedrock update from Mojang adds new flat world presets, enhances gameplay alignment with the Java version, and fixes dozens of bugs in gameplay, sound, interface, and other game elements.
Return of Flat Worlds with New Presets
Players can now choose from a variety of pre-made flat worlds in the "Advanced" section when creating a new world. Available options include: Classic Flat, Tunnelers' Dream, Water World, Overworld, Snowy Kingdom, Bottomless Pit, Desert, Redstone Ready.

Regarding Accessibility:
Fixed a bug that prevented the "Text-to-Speech" feature from working on Android Fire Tablet devices. Also addressed a number of sound issues:
- Resolved a bug where all Windows system sounds stopped at ~40–41% loading;
- Music and sounds now correctly stop when pressing the "Save and Exit" button;
- Wolf spawn sounds now use the correct variants;
- End credits music now plays correctly when launched from the settings menu during a game pause.
Block Improvements, Visual Enhancements, and Sound Environment:
- Ambient sounds now correctly play for sand, dead bushes, and terracotta.
- Fixed an issue with saplings that reset their
age_bit
state after a failed growth attempt, which also affected incorrect observer activation. - Improved ambient occlusion for non-standard block shapes (stairs, fences, slabs, etc.), making lighting appear more natural when adjacent blocks are destroyed.
- Random visual offsets for flowers, bamboo, coral, and tall grass have been aligned with Java Edition.
- Fixed interaction between soul soil, lava, and blue ice, allowing basalt formation to work regardless of placement order.
- The "Bundle" item now displays correctly when interacting via touch controls.
- Fixed the character model size with custom skins in the character editor.

Gameplay Mechanics, Performance, and Java Parity:
- Fixed a longstanding bug where players could pass through blocks located at X or Z coordinates that are powers of two (e.g., 256 or 512).
- Completely removed access to Virtual and Mixed Reality.
- Portal travel in Realms is now synchronized between server and client, eliminating desynchronization issues.
- Added a
music_definition
field to biome JSON files, allowing for detailed music customization or disabling. - Players now correctly lie in beds, rather than beside or under them.
- Deepslate redstone ore now glows correctly upon interaction and does not remain permanently lit.
- Respawning after gliding or swimming restores the player's correct collision.
- Fixed an exploit that allowed running in water faster than swimming.
- Optimized Elytra behavior: fireworks now only act as acceleration during gliding, and usage near blocks (e.g., sugar cane) no longer causes "rollback."
- "Trail Ruins" now generate in the same locations in Mutated Birch Forests in both Java and Bedrock — given the same seed.

Gameplay, Items, and Mob Behavior Improvements:
- Added a new "Filter Profanity" option for players on PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox.
- Fixed item-related bugs: items can now be used on spawners, and item disappearance during hopper interaction has been addressed.
- Mangrove roots can now be used as fuel.
- Slimes and magma cubes retain their names after splitting.
- Allays no longer disappear after reloading the world.
- Parrots mimic new mob types: phantoms, zoglins, wardens, pillagers, ravagers, and blazes.
- Wither skeletons and zombified piglins can walk on lava.
- Farm animal spawn eggs in mangrove swamps now spawn the correct mob variants.
- Camels require sufficient space for spawning.
- Farmer villagers no longer get stuck during harvest.
- Evokers' leg animations now correctly display walking.

Realms Updates and Recipe Behavior:
- Fixed a crash occurring when repeatedly clicking while loading a world into an inactive Realm slot.
- Added the ability for Realms owners to select the desired hosting region in the "Advanced" tab. The system will automatically choose the nearest region if the specified one is unavailable.
- Players now see a message about the current server region when entering a Realm.
- Fixed a bug that allowed crafting unknown recipes even when
dolimitedcrafting
was enabled.

General Stability, Performance, and Interface Improvements:
- Fixed game crashes during chunk generation, leaf texture loading, and creating a Realm in an empty slot.
- Resolved issues with loading content from the Marketplace.
- Fixed menu operations: canceling server transfer now returns the player to the main menu, and Potion of Slowness IV is correctly grouped in the Creative menu.
- Updated touch controls: icons for dismounting and jumping are clearer, observers can customize controls, and Hardcore mode death bugs have been fixed.
- Implemented prevention of world seed reset when screen animations are disabled, improved error handling for saves, added new "Manage Storage" and "Clear Download Cache" buttons.

Java Edition Parity Improvements:
- Enchanted weapons now emit magic crit particles.
- Cut sandstone slabs can now be crafted via Stonecutter.
- Totem of Undying now grants 45 seconds of regeneration — as in Java.
- Shears lose durability when harvesting full beehives.
- Shields now take damage from explosions.
- The maximum amount of raw rabbit obtained now depends on the "Looting" enchantment level.
- Woodland Mansions now guaranteedly contain a chest with an iron axe enchanted with "Efficiency I."

Experimental Content Drop 2 2025:
- Added the Dried Ghast block, which can be found in Nether Fossil structures or crafted from a bone block and eight Ghast tears.
- In water, this block undergoes a 20-minute transformation with visual effects. Upon completion, a Ghastling appears.
- The Ghastling grows into a Happy Ghast — a mountable mob capable of carrying up to four players. The first rider controls, sitting above the mob's face.
- The mob is equipped with a Lead, which can only be removed with shears.
- It has complex behavior: stops while riding, flies around home, hides under blocks, does not sit in boats.
- Currently has 40 HP instead of the intended 20 — this will be fixed.

Technical Changes
- Introduced the experimental "Vibrant Visuals" graphics mode, enhancing lighting, visual effects, and detail.
- The mode is supported on modern devices: Xbox, PlayStation, Android with Adreno 640+, iOS with A12+, and PCs with DirectX 12.
- Split screen is not supported. Marketplace content is supported; custom worlds are not yet.

Locator Bar:
- Added a new locatorBar rule, allowing the Locator Bar to be enabled or disabled.
- The Locator Bar replaces the XP bar in the HUD, showing the direction of other players in a 120-degree sector and height indicators.
- It is concealed during sneaking, using pumpkins, heads, or invisibility effects.
- Has limitations when simulating more than four chunks.

Graphics, Biomes, Technical Updates:
- Improved tether visualization and breaking particles.
- Updated the API script system (v2.0.0-beta): added new commands, filters, components, and templates.
- Updated editor version 0.9.5: new tools have been added, the selection system has been completely redesigned, and tutorial lessons have been improved.
