Riot Games has released Wild Rift update 6.1 — one of the most extensive updates to date, introducing a new champion, significant changes to the ranking system, and a visual overhaul with a galactic theme called 'Dual Nova'.
New Champion — Ryze, the Rune Mage
The highlight of the patch is Ryze, the Rune Mage, who will join the champion roster on April 17 at 00:01 UTC. This character is a hero with powerful magic and a mission to find the dangerous World Runes, promising to change the dynamics in both casual and competitive games.

Dual Nova Theme
The patch's Dual Nova theme adds a cosmic glow to the main screen, store, and loading menu. It includes two star systems: Challenger’s Star (already available) and Adventure’s Star, which will appear on May 16.
Thanks to these elements, players can "ignite" constellations and earn in-game rewards. After the launch of Adventure’s Star, casual modes will also grant points to enhance the Battlefest medal.

Changes to the Wild Rift Ranking System
With the new update, the 17th ranked season will begin on April 18 at 03:00 UTC, featuring Glorious Airgrette Janna as the season's main skin. The Ranking System has undergone significant changes to improve accessibility and fairness.
Now, to earn skins, you only need to play five games. Previous reward structures, such as seasonal collections and promotion rewards, have been removed.

Improvements to ranked games go beyond cosmetic changes. The new 'Rising Star' mechanic provides an extra mark for a win with an S rating for players in the gold rank and below.
A remake feature has also been introduced, which activates before the game starts if the team composition is unbalanced. A rank-up event has been added: players who reach the Master level will receive a unique title and a Ranked Wings cosmetic item for their profile.
The Legendary Ranked mode has also received substantial updates:
- Rank names have been updated, all now have the 'Legendary' prefix.
- A Legendary Energy system has been added, directly rewarding good gameplay.
- Champion requirements have been simplified — now you can use any champion with a Champion Score of 1000+ throughout history.
- There is protection against losing marks on the first loss of the season, as well as bonus LP according to the final rank of the previous season.
The Champion Score system has also been revamped — now the quality of gameplay carries more weight, and Legendary Challenges on weekends provide additional ranking bonuses. The Lane Icon system has expanded from five to eight icons, and the "Master of Versatility" has received new levels for the most motivated players.

The Collected Legends mode has also been updated. Players can expect:
- Easier access to rewards, including Chroma skins, companions, and Easter egg surprises.
- Reduced chance of duplicate drops, and opening packs and crafting cards has become more convenient with "Open All" and "Craft All" buttons.

Other Changes in Wild Rift Patch 6.1
Riot is also continuing its fight against cheating. The Embedded Vanguard system now halts matches with detected cheaters, not counting the results for honest players, and bans the violators.
New control settings allow players to customize gameplay more precisely, including quick casting, aim timers, and joystick dead zones — especially useful for champions like Viktor and Rumble.

Among other important updates are expanded training modes with bots, an improved violation reporting system, and an updated Chroma skin system. They now have dynamic color effects, a simplified acquisition process, and the ability to purchase a full set at once. Detectors have been removed and automatically converted into Scanners.
The beloved ARAM mode has been renamed to AAA ARAM (Augments, Awesomeness, and Adventures). It will become available later in the patch. Alongside it, the Arena mode is being prepared for launch, which will appear after Adventure’s Star accumulates enough cosmic energy. Riot promises more details in upcoming notes.

Bug Fixes and Error Corrections
In addition to new features and changes, developers have fixed some bugs that were present in the game, including:
- An issue where damage from First Strike would wake targets put to sleep by Lillia's Lilting Lullaby ability.
- Added a Heat indicator and fixed an issue where Rumble's Heat level was not displaying.
- An issue where Yone's capture by Viego became permanent if controlled after using Soul Unbound.
