Monster Hunter Wilds brings to the table a vast and varied roster of monsters, each of which presents their challenge and reward. The game includes, upon its release, 47 monsters in total—29 of them big and 18 of them small. It is worth noting, though, that of the big monsters, only 26 of them have Crowns, which denote important differences in their species' average size. These Crowns can be Gold or Silver, and Gold Crowns indicate the most dramatic differences in size.
Understanding Crowns in Monster Hunter Wilds
Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds that stand much taller or shorter than their normal form are called Crowns. The Crowned monsters not only provide a higher hunting experience but also grant special rewards upon defeat. The differences are:
- Gold Crown: These monsters can be much larger or smaller than normal, having higher health, damage, and different behavior.
- Silver Crown: Medium-sized monsters, above or below average in size, which offer hunters a reasonable challenge.
Small monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds may not bear Crown titles, but they play their part in the ecosystem, bringing much-needed material and contributing to the lively environment of the game.
