The Offset Attacks and Power Clash abilities in Monster Hunter Wilds are innovative features that significantly enhance the game's fighting mechanism. They allow the players to effectively disrupt monster attacks, providing opportunities for counterattacks and tactical movement.
Offset Attacks: Definition and Application
Offset Attacks are special counterattacks for individual weapons. They allow players to counterattack monsters' attacks, dealing damage and stopping their offense. In order to execute an Offset Attack, players must time the button inputs well during a monster's attack.
Weapons That Can Deliver Offset Attacks
In Monster Hunter Wilds, violent clashes are only possible with weapons that can block attacks. These weapons include: sword, sword and shield, spear, cannonball, charged blade, and heavy crossbow.

Great Sword: Click Triangle + Circle and release them during the monster's attack phase. The attack must be charged
Hammer: Perform a three-hit combination with Triangle, with the third hit being the Offset Attack.
Switch Axe: Switch to Axe mode, press Triangle + Circle at the right timing.
Hunting Horn: Establish a combination with Triangle + Circle, Circle, Triangle + Circle, Triangle, and hit Triangle, Circle, and R2 simultaneously at the right timing.
Heavy Crossbow: Switch to Ignition mode, charge with Triangle, and release at the opportune moment.
Insect Glaive: Collect the red essence from the monster using R + LMB, charge Descending Slash by holding RMB, and release when the monster is about to strike.

Power Clash: Definition and Application
Power Clash is a feature that lets players clash with monster attacks using the power of their weapon. This is a means by which players can deflect monster attacks and deal damage. To perform a Power Clash, players must time the use of their weapon power during a monster attack.

Arms with Power Class
Great Sword: With very high Power Class, it is capable of delivering strong blows that can crush through defenses or deal immense damage even against the most resistant monsters. However, the slowness in the speed of such blows requires planning in terms of when and how to strike.
Gunlance: A combination of a spear with firearms, this Power Class excels at inflicting huge amounts of damage at long ranges. Though the individual blows would be inferior in power compared to the Great Sword, effective use of fire ammo can make each blow deadly.
Hammer: A very destructive game weapon, Power Class is capable of stunning monsters as well as inflicting massive damage. Charging swings also give it more power, with a powerful blow.
Bow: While the Bow is less powerful in Power Class, charging arrows and firing at weak spots in enemies increases the strength of long-distance attacks. Therefore, the Bow is powerful in terms of maneuverability and precision but less so in sheer power.

Applying Offset Attacks and Power Class for Success
It is important, however, not only to know what is the best weapon, but also how exactly to use its special abilities in conjunction with Offset Attacks and Power Class. With strong attacks, timing is everything—knowing when to charge strikes or perform combination attacks for maximum effect.
Knowing the weaknesses in enemies is also important in the game. Using Offset Attacks in a way that changes your position or direction of attack can allow you to target the most vulnerable spots in a monster.
Choosing the right weapon with the proper Power Class is crucial in defining your play style. When utilizing high power, be careful with your positioning. With more agile attacks, having the proper timing and usage of Offset Attacks is another plus.
