Enhancing stats plays an important role in shaping a stronger hunter in Monster Hunter Wilds. Having the right items to boost stats can significantly impact the outcome of battles, your damage, and survivability.

Two of the most valuable items for increasing attack and defense in Monster Hunter Wilds are Powercharm and Armorcharm. However, obtaining these charms in Monster Hunter Wilds is relatively difficult if you're not sufficiently leveled up, as it requires a strong high-level hero.

In this guide, we will explain what these items are, how to obtain them, and why they are essential for every hunter.

What are Armorcharm and Powercharm in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Powercharm and Armorcharm are items that passively increase stats while in your item pouch. They provide permanent bonuses to attack and defense without the need for use or activation.

• Powercharm increases attack power by 6 points (excluding weapon multipliers), which results in a total bonus of 19 points to attack according to the game's mechanics.
• Armorcharm increases your defense by 12 points.

Unlike other items that need to be activated or crafted, these charms work simply by being present in the pouch. This makes them indispensable for every serious hunter.

How to obtain Armorcharm in Monster Hunter Wilds?

In previous Monster Hunter installments, Armorcharm could be purchased from traders, but in Monster Hunter Wilds, obtaining it is tied to completing a high-rank quest.

To unlock Armorcharm, follow these steps:

1. Complete the main story campaign to gain access to High Rank.

2. Reach HR 16 to unlock Chapter 4-2: Lurking Shadows.

3. Unlock the Wounded Hollow location.

4. Take the optional quest "Secure Wounded Hollow" from the character Cobb in Suja, Peaks of Accord.

5. Defeat two Hirabami in Wounded Hollow.

The Secure Wounded Hollow quest can be somewhat challenging, as both Hirabami will attack you simultaneously. But of course, it all depends on your current armor level and attack power. To increase your chances of success, focus on one monster at a time. Use Paintball to mark the target, which will help avoid confusion.

In the center of the arena, there is a lever that raises gates and allows you to temporarily separate the monsters. Using this mechanism at the right moment can greatly simplify the battle, making the fight fairer. Also, remember that Hirabami have weaknesses to fire and lightning.

After defeating the two enemy Hirabami, return to Cobb in Suja and talk to him to receive the Armorcharm as a reward in Monster Hunter Wilds.  

How to obtain Powercharm in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Obtaining Powercharm follows a similar principle, but this quest is even more challenging.

To obtain Powercharm, you need to:

1. Complete the main story campaign.

2. Unlock access to Wounded Hollow.

3. Complete the "Secure Wounded Hollow" quest from Cobb to obtain Armorcharm.

4. Talk to Rex in Suja, Peaks of Accord, and accept the optional quest "As Gatekeeper".

5. Defeat two Ajarakan in the Wounded Hollow location.

This quest is much more difficult than the previous one. Ajarakan are aggressive monsters with powerful attacks, and you will need HR 21 to accept this task. As with Hirabami, using the lever in the center of the arena to separate the monsters will be a significant element that simplifies the fight for you.

Be especially cautious of Ajarakan's Powerbomb attack, which starts with the monster spinning, then jumping into the air and crashing down with tremendous force. Play carefully, dodge at the right moment, and use Ajarakan's weaknesses (they are vulnerable to ice and water) to increase your chances of victory.

After you defeat the two Ajarakan, return to Rex in Suja to receive the Powercharm in  Monster Hunter Wilds.

Where to store Armorcharm and Powercharm?

After obtaining Armorcharm and Powercharm, go to the tent and move them to the Item Pouch. The charms provide stat bonuses only when they are in your inventory during hunts. If you leave them in the Storage Box, they will not be effective.

Can Armorcharm and Powercharm be upgraded in Monster Hunter Wilds?

In previous Monster Hunter games, players could upgrade Armorcharm and Powercharm by creating Armortalon and Powertalon by combining them with rare monster parts. These upgraded versions provided even greater bonuses to attack and defense.

As of the release of Monster Hunter Wilds, there is no option to upgrade Armorcharm and Powercharm. However, it is possible that in future updates or DLC, Armortalon and Powertalon may be added.

Why are Armorcharm and Powercharm important?

Although the attack and defense bonuses these charms provide may seem insignificant at first glance, every stat point matters in Monster Hunter Wilds, especially in High Rank and later stages of the game. As you progress, enemies become stronger, and even a small boost can have a noticeable impact on your combat effectiveness. By obtaining and using Armorcharm and Powercharm, you gain an instant advantage in attack and defense stats.
