If you've made it far enough in Blue Prince to finally unlock the Gallery, congratulations you’re deep in the draft and about to tackle one of the most cleverly designed puzzles in the game. The Gallery, when it appears, presents you with four mysterious paintings, each without a name. Solving this room not only rewards you with treasure but also grants access to the elusive Room 8. Here's everything you need to know to crack the Gallery puzzle and claim your rewards.
The Gallery is a rare room in Blue Prince. You’re unlikely to encounter it early, most players report seeing it only after reaching the Antechamber and Room 46. When it does appear, you’ll find four paintings by Christopher Manson, all unnamed, and two locked chests in the center of the room.
Each painting must be named correctly using nearby frames. Deciphering the titles using only the clues in the paintings themselves.
While the handcuffs and spotlight might distract you, the solution lies in the word THICK itself. Every letter is drawn thickly, except for the final letter: a thin, narrow K. Swap that K into something more cerebral, and you get the answer: THINK. This also sets the tone for the rest of the puzzle: all four titles are related to the concept of thinking.
This one's a visual pun. There's a P on RED, but since the image is mirrored, RED becomes "DER" in reverse. That gives us PONDER to think deeply.
Each of these hints: ACTUAL, GENU, VERI, points to the word REAL. Add that to all the eyes in the image, and you’ve got REAL-EYES, or: REALIZE.
Tip: There’s also a wine bottle and glass, possibly a cheeky nod to the phrase in vino veritas “in wine, truth”.
This one is a layered pun. You’re in a ROOM, there are a bunch of items featuring IN, and the infinity symbol doubles as a sideways EIGHT.
Put it all together: ROOM + IN + EIGHT = RUMINATE to reflect deeply.
When you enter the correct titles for the paintings, the two chests in the center of the room will unlock. Solving the first two paintings opens the first chest, which usually contains coins or gems. Completing all four titles unlocks the second chest, which holds Key 8. This key is used to access Room 8, making it an important step for progressing deeper into the game.
The Gallery puzzle in Blue Prince isn’t just a test of logic, it’s a love letter to wordplay and lateral thinking. Every title is a clever twist on how we interpret visual clues, and the satisfaction of unlocking both chests and Room 8 is a true reward for thoughtful players.
So next time you find yourself staring at a painting filled with eyeballs, wagons, or wordplay, remember: think deeply and then THINK, PONDER, REALIZE, and RUMINATE.
