KOI lost a timeout due to the Gecko glitch in a match against Fnatic

During the match between KOI and Fnatic, as part of the VCT 2024 EMEA tournament on April 20th, a conflict arose due to the alleged use of the Gecko glitch. According to reports, KOI was deprived of one timeout for this incident.

Disputes arose after caster RyanCentral and VALIANT team coach Zanpoyo expressed conflicting opinions regarding the events of the match. Ryan noted that the use of the glitch was not intentional, while Zanpoyo pointed out possible abuse of it.

The incident occurred when KOI player Dizzy accidentally activated a bug that allowed opening the teleporter door from the outside. This led to an unintended reaction that could have affected the outcome of the round.

Representatives of KOI claim that their goal was to open the door using a Molotov and force Dizzy to attack Fnatic player Boaster for a guaranteed kill. However, this resulted in the team losing a timeout in a critical situation.

Despite KOI confidently leading 11-3 in the first map, the loss of the timeout had a significant impact on their game. Fnatic managed to make a comeback, winning the first map and securing victory in the subsequent match, closing the encounter with a score of 2:0 in their favor.
