Sengoku Gaming coach Art announces transition to free agent status

On August 24, Art, the coach of Sengoku Gaming, announced his transition to limited free agent status and his intention to find a new team as an IGL (in-game leader). Art joined Sengoku Gaming in February of this year and worked as a coach for about six months, but he has now decided to continue his career as a player.

The 25-year-old Art began his professional career in Valorant in 2020 and played for leading Japanese teams such as Team Feeling, Sengoku Gaming, and Jadeite. In 2023, he achieved second place at VCJ 2023 Split 2 with Jadeite, although they failed to qualify for the Ascension Tournament.

In August of last year, following the dissolution of Jadeite, Art unsuccessfully tried out for other teams and announced his intention to retire. However, he noted on his X (formerly Twitter) that he was not leaving esports entirely and was open to returning if a suitable opportunity arose. In October of the same year, he joined CREST GAMING, but his contract was unexpectedly terminated in January of this year.

In February 2024, Art returned to Sengoku Gaming as the coach of the second team, and by April, he was promoted to head coach of the main team. Under his leadership, the team placed third at VCJ 2024 Split 2 and advanced to the offline playoffs.

Art will continue to search for a new team to return to his role as a player and IGL.
