Valorant Map Doors Guide: How to Pass and Destroy Them

Valorant Map Doors Guide: How to Pass and Destroy Them

Each of the 10 game maps in Valorant is filled with diverse interface elements that players can use to defeat their opponents. These include portals that help you suddenly appear at a different point on the map, horizontal and vertical zip lines that can be used to take a strategic position and much more. However, all of the above is more of a novelty compared to most competitive shooters, including the main competitor CS 2. What Valorant definitely has, like all games of this type, are doors. They might seem like a regular element, but in first-person shooters, they play a crucial role. Therefore, today, the Bo3 editorial team has prepared material for you, where we will tell you about the features of doors in Valorant, as well as how to properly play this game interface element.

Features of Doors in Valorant

To begin with, it's worth discussing the types of doors that exist in the game and their functionalities. All doors in Valorant can be divided into three types: those that can be completely destroyed, partially destroyed, or not destroyed at all. Understandably, doors that can be partially or fully destroyed have their own Health Point value, which varies from 400HP to 500HP depending on the door itself. It should be noted that the above-mentioned doors can also be destroyed by melee weapon strikes, which will inflict double damage—normal attacks will do 100 damage instead of 50, and strong attacks will do 150 instead of 75. Additionally, abilities such as Aftershock, Hunter's Fury, Mosh Pit, Nanoswarm, Orbital Strike, and Shock Bolt will also inflict damage. Note that there are some abilities that only work on specific doors, but we will talk about those below.

Doors on Ascent

Let's start with the map Ascent, because it has the most doors among all others. There are two pairs of doors that can be completely destroyed and one pair that can only be partially destroyed.

  • Bomb Doors

The first pair is called Bomb Doors. Their name directly depends on their location, as they are situated at the entrance to both Spike planting points. At the beginning of the round, they are open, and to close them, you need to press a special lever located near the doors themselves. When the doors are closed, the control element glows green, and when open, it glows orange. Their total HP is 500, which makes it clear that they can be completely destroyed. These doors can also be damaged by the ability Blaze from the agent Phoenix, which will inflict 0.5 times more than its usual damage.

The main functionality of these doors is to delay opponents and to gather information about the direction of their attack. Therefore, the main advice when playing near these objectives, which sounds like “Keep them closed,” works for both sides. If you are playing on the defence side and need to defend the Spike planting point, closing the doors will reduce the number of possible attack directions. If the doors are broken, you will definitely know that the enemies are preparing to attack from the central part of the map. This also works for the attacking side; if your team has managed to plant the Spike, you should immediately close the doors. This will again provide necessary information and reduce the number of directions to watch for.

  • Panels

Another pair of doors available on the Ascent map is located on the attacking side, transitioning to the central part of the location. Although they do not look like ordinary doors, they are classified as such. Their feature is that they are closed with metal panels on both sides, which is where they get their name. The panels protect the walls from being shot through, and their HP is 400. Like the previous doors, they are destroyed by weapons as well as abilities from Raze and Phoenix. Blaze from the latter will inflict 0.5 times more than its general damage. It's better to use the panels for the defence side, because at the beginning of the round when entering the central part of the map, you can easily surprise your opponents. But remember that you will need to spend time and bullets to destroy the panels, which may give the enemies necessary time to rotate.

Doors on Lotus

Next up is another map with two types of doors, but this time they are completely different. The Lotus location offers two types of doors, one of which can be completely destroyed, and the other cannot be destroyed at all.

  • Doorways

The first and simultaneously unique doors are doorways that have several features. First of all, they rotate around their axis, making them the first doors of this type in Valorant. To do this, you need to activate a switch located right next to the doors themselves, which causes them to rotate. This allows you not only to pass to the needed location but also to gain information about what is happening behind them. The second feature is that they cannot be destroyed, so the situation around them will be different.

It is recommended not to rush into the doors when they start rotating. Initially, they open halfway, after which they slow down for a while and then continue their movement. Use the moment of slowing down to assess the situation and detect an opponent. If the latter is inside, it's advisable to use one of the many area damaging abilities, such as Paint Shells from agent Raze. This will allow you to kill or seriously injure the enemy, making entry through the doors much easier. Also, these doors interact wonderfully with agent Jett, who can easily slip inside using her ability Tailwind, taking advantage of the moment while the doors are moving. This feature is often used by professional players, so we recommend following them to learn this trick.

  • Wall

Another door on the Lotus map can be completely destroyed. However, in reality, it is not exactly a door but rather a stone wall, hence its name. These doors are located on the defence side of point A and lead directly to point B. Their total HP is 400, and in addition to being destroyed by weapons, they can be damaged by abilities from Raze and Phoenix, as on the previous map, as well as the ability FRAG/ment from agent KAY/O.

Doors on Haven

The next maps that remain have not as many doors. One of them is located in the central part of the Haven map. In essence, they are similar to the doors from the Ascent map, so they fall into the Panels type. The total amount of HP needed to destroy the metal panels is 400, and they can also be damaged by the abilities described above.

Doors on Sunset

Our list concludes with the latest map added to Valorant - Sunset. There is only one pair of doors on the location, which are located in the central part when entering point B, hence they are called Bomb Doors. Their total HP is 500, but unlike the doors on the Ascent map, KAY/O cannot damage them. In turn, all the abilities listed above can destroy these doors. There are no special recommendations related to them, as the situation with them is similar to that on the Ascent map, which we wrote about above.

Conclusion

After reading our material, you have learned about the types of doors in Valorant and how to properly interact with them. Note that doors are an important element of in-game gameplay, so we recommend practising to act correctly in various situations related to their use.
