sScary announces retirement from VALORANT

Renowned VALORANT player sScary, known for his performances with X10 Esports, XERXIA, and Bleed Esports, has announced his retirement from professional play during a live stream. This decision comes after Bleed Esports effectively disbanded in October 2023, prompting sScary to seek a new team. His five-year career has now come to an end.

Reasons Behind Retirement

During his stream, sScary revealed that his primary reason for retiring was the prolonged time spent away from his family, which caused significant stress. He also cited a chronic shoulder injury that, despite treatment and physiotherapy, continued to cause discomfort and hinder his ability to perform at the highest level. The player stated that he does not plan to return to the esports industry and intends to focus on his personal life.

Despite receiving offers from teams in the international league and challenger league, sScary chose to decline them and retire. He also noted that the Thai competitive scene has already passed its peak and is currently in decline, making this the right time for him to step away.

sScary Career in VALORANT

The 25-year-old began his VALORANT career in 2020, joining Overtime Esports. He later moved to X10 Esports, where he won the VCT 2021 SA Masters and represented Southeast Asia in major tournaments, including VCT Masters Reykjavík and VALORANT Champions 2021.

In 2022, sScary, along with the X10 roster, transitioned to XERXIA, continuing to compete successfully on the global stage. Later that year, he joined Bleed Esports, marking his first experience with an English-speaking team. While at Bleed Esports, sScary won two seasons of the Singapore Challenger League and the Ascension tournament, securing the team’s spot in the international league for 2024.

However, the team’s results in VCT PACIFIC 2024 were disappointing, as they finished last in every stage. Riot Games later announced the termination of Bleed Esports contract due to a breach of obligations, leading to the team’s exclusion from the international league. The Bleed players were subsequently allowed to look for new opportunities.

sScary retirement marks a significant moment for the professional VALORANT scene, particularly for the Thai competitive community.
