In the newly created Chinese region, Valorant introduces a salary cap for esports athletes

Recently, the head of the esports league in the Chinese region, Eric Feng, shared interesting information regarding the CN league in Valorant in his latest interview. According to him, there will be a future introduction of a salary cap for Chinese professional players.

In an interview with People’s E-Sports, Eric mentioned that after the official inclusion of the Chinese region in the Valorant competitive ecosystem, a decision was made to maintain the competitive viability of the teams. For this, a salary cap for professional players will be established in the future. This means that an organization cannot pay esports athletes an amount higher than what will be specified in the official document.

It's hard to say that everyone will be satisfied with the end result. However, we hope that thanks to our efforts, some of our very good players will find a good club to play for, and then we can together improve our league and raise the overall level of competition.

Remember, China has officially become the fourth region in the Valorant competitive scene. It was announced that 10 partner teams will be participating in the VCT series tournaments; you can read more about this in our material. Also, there will be another partner slot in the region, which will be played out at the Ascension contenders tournament. You can also read about its participants in our material.

It is still unknown whether the other three regions, EMEA, Pacific, and Americas, will adopt similar restrictions. But it is worth noting that in another Riot Games discipline - League of Legends, such restrictions started in the Chinese region, after which the leaders of other leagues stated that they would start creating similar rules starting from 2024. Therefore, it can be assumed that something similar will appear in Valorant in the near future.
