Yesterday it became known that Vladislav "Kvem" Korol joined the team Passion UA, replacing the departed s-chilla. However, today the organization IKLA announced that the transfer of Kvem took place without their consent, as the player allegedly remains under an active contract with IKLA. This statement sparked a real stir in the esports community.
The conflict is interesting as it touches on the legal and ethical sides of esports transfers. Such situations are not uncommon, but this particular case stands out due to its scale and potential consequences for the player's career and the reputations of both organizations.
Background of the Conflict
In 2022, Kvem became part of IKLA, but by 2024 he moved to inactive. At the Asian RMR, he was loaned to the team DRILLAS, where he performed well. Recently, Passion UA began searching for a new member to replace s-chilla, and Kvem was chosen. Passion UA management claims that before signing the contract, they received assurances from Kvem himself and his lawyers that his agreement with IKLA was terminated due to organizational breaches.
However, IKLA claims otherwise. According to them, the contract with Kvem remains in force, and the player violated its terms by declaring himself a free agent. In the case of legal proceedings, IKLA threatens Kvem with fines and bans from participating in tournaments.
Main Details
The IKLA organization publicly stated their claims on their X-account:
Kvem signed a contract with Passion UA without coordinating the transfer with us. Our legal team is working on resolving this issue, and we will take all necessary actions. In addition, we have reached out to tournament organizers requesting a temporary suspension of the player from competitions until the dispute is resolved.
The response from Passion UA was not long in coming. The team's CEO, Artemijs Ryabovs, in an interview for the Telegram channel "Katsaps' Inferno", stated that a legal document check was conducted before signing the contract. According to him, Kvem provided evidence of breaches by IKLA, allowing him to terminate the contract unilaterally.
IKLA, in turn, claims that they had another buyer for Kvem, and the contract with Passion UA is invalid. IKLA management also points to violations of contract terms and insists on their right to penalties.
Early Comments
The head of IKLA, Maksim Bednarsky, previously commented on the situation with Kvem's contract, stating on our site:
His 'representative' sent an amateurish letter about contract termination, citing alleged contract breaches. We responded to this letter within the framework of the law, but he decided to declare himself a free agent, which is a violation of clause 8.4 of our agreement.
