Astralis again failed to reach the grand finals of a major tournament they were stopped by TheMongolz

Astralis were defeated by TheMongolz 1-2 at YaLLa Compass 2024, taking 3-4th place for the fourth consecutive time without reaching the finals. Previously, they were stopped by Liquid at CCT Global Finals 2024 with a 1-2, at IEM Chengdu 2024 they lost to FaZe also with a 1-2, and at ESL Pro League Season 19 they were defeated by Vitality, again with a 1-2.

The constant failures at the semi-final stage raise questions about the team's form and strategy. Despite consistently reaching the top 4, Astralis are unable to break the last barrier and reach the finals.

Nuke

Nuke was the peak of Astralis and they started on the Attack side, due to the fact that TheMongolz were on defense they were able to gain an advantage in the first half, after Astralis were able to equalize and the Mongols ended the half with a score of 8-4, after that they finished the second half in favor of the Mongols with a score of 5-3 and the map ended with a score of 13-7 in favor of TheMongolz.

Mirage

Obviously, it was the peak of the Mongols and on it Astralis showed a masterclass, playing great for defense in the first half and dominating the whole game against the opponents. The first half was played 9-3 and the second half 3-4, thus Mirage left Astralis with a score of 13-6

Ancient

The decisive Ancient map determined whether Astralis could overcome their “curse” or TheMongolz would advance to the second LAN Grand Final. The first half started with several consecutive winning rounds for TheMongolz, but Astralis rallied and took seven rounds almost in a row, switching sides with the score in their favor. However, TheMongolz also dominated the second half, just as Astralis did in the first. The match went into overtime, where the teams went toe-to-toe. In the third overtime, TheMongolz took three straight rounds for defense, lost one in the second half, but took the last deciding round, ending the map with a score of 22-19 and winning the match.

Despite the defeat of Astralis, the MVP of this match was stavn, who showed a great game and received a high rating of 7.2.
