Riot Revamps Atahan and Epic Void Monsters

As the second season of League of Legends approaches, developers have introduced significant changes affecting Atahan, Void objectives, and other key map mechanics. Riot responded to player complaints about the game being overloaded with objectives and promised to balance the pace of matches, especially in the early stages.

Atahan becomes unified — Voracious form removed

Starting from Season 2, Atahan will no longer appear in its Voracious form. Developers acknowledged that even with a reduced chance of appearing, it too often influenced the outcome of professional matches. As a result, Atahan will now appear only in one form — Thornbound, with reworked rewards.

In addition to Blood Roses, the team that kills Atahan will receive all remaining roses on the map, and all their Blood Petals will transform into Spirit Petals with an enhanced effect — 25% more powerful. Additionally, the team will gain a new permanent buff — Spiritual Purification, which slows and deals damage to nearby enemies upon champion kills. This is intended to make the reward for Atahan more interesting and beneficial throughout the game.

Reimagined Void objectives

Void Larvae will now appear once per game and later on, to prevent teams from being distracted from laning and ganking in the early phase. The Rift Herald will spawn from the 15th minute, and its damage will become harder to ignore, enhancing its impact in the mid-game.

The changes to Atahan and Void monsters are aimed at making the gameplay more balanced and engaging. Riot aims to reduce the overload in the early stage of the match and maintain the significance of epic objectives in the mid-game and late game without disrupting the overall pace of the game.
