How to solve the Room 8 puzzle in Blue Prince

Room 8 in Blue Prince is unlocked once you reach rank 8 and obtain Key 8, which you can get by solving the Gallery puzzle. Inside, you’ll encounter a poetic and layered challenge involving eight animal statues and eight bins labeled with various sins. Each animal has a riddle attached, and your goal is to match each one to the correct sin based on the clues provided.

Here’s a full walkthrough of how to solve the Room 8 puzzle, including a breakdown of each animal’s clue and how to interpret it.

The Penguin

The Penguin’s clue reads: “The sum of my sin, as it is penned, is a number within the room we are in.”

This clue plays with wordplay and numerology. The room you’re standing in is Room 8, and among all the sin names, only one of them  “Gluttony”  has exactly eight letters. The phrase “sum of my sin” refers to the number of letters in the word, making this the most direct and literal of all the clues.

Answer: Gluttony

The Monkey

The Monkey’s clue says: “The bin I tend to wind up in is near the bend in the tail of the skin.”

This one references the environment of the room. There’s a large rug (described as a “skin”) on the floor with a curling tail at one end. The bin closest to that bend is the one intended for the Monkey. Since the rug’s curl is positioned near the “Hubris” bin, that is the correct answer.

Answer: Hubris

The Dog

The Dog’s riddle is: “You won’t find my bin in between sin, for I deserve to be in a bin down on the end.”

This clue emphasizes placement. The Dog does not belong in a bin “in between” others but instead should be placed at one of the two ends of the row. Since the Monkey is already placed at one end (Hubris), the Dog must go at the opposite end. The bin on the far side is labeled “Mundanity,” making this the logical match.

Answer: Mundanity

The Bear

The Bear’s clue reads: “If we spend a min or ten lounging in the den, you’ll know which bin I’m often in.”

This one is thematically clear. Bears are often associated with hibernation, rest, and relaxation, essentially, laziness. The sin that most clearly relates to those ideas is “Sloth.” The wordplay around lounging and the den further reinforces this interpretation.

Answer: Sloth

The Lion

The Lion says: “To first begin, place me within a bin with an ‘N’ within its sin.”

Now that several other sins are already taken, only one remaining bin contains the letter “N” in its name “Envy.” This clue is straightforward and uses a process of elimination combined with simple spelling observation.

Answer: Envy

The Swan

The Swan offers this: “I recommend you think again if I am ever in a bin far from the fin.”

On one of the room’s walls is a painting of a fin, an important spatial clue. The Swan’s placement must be near this painting. Among the remaining bins, “Lust” is the one positioned closest to the painting of the fin. The clue’s rhyme is poetic but ultimately just a positional reference.

Answer: Lust

The Rabbit

The Rabbit’s clue says: “I share a trend with my neighbor’s sin: a letter and its twin appear on each bin.”

This is a slightly more abstract wordplay clue. The Rabbit needs to be placed next to a bin that contains a double letter (a “twin”). Looking at the remaining available bins, “Avarice” and “Mundanity” both have repeated letters: A and N, respectively. Since Mundanity is already taken, and Avarice sits next to it, the Rabbit should be placed in Avarice.

Answer: Avarice

The Elephant

The Elephant’s riddle reads: “To my chagrin, my neighbor’s sin is written thin to fit it all in.”

The clue here is a final positional puzzle. “Written thin” refers to long words or narrow fonts Gluttony, for example, is longer and narrower. If we’ve placed the Rabbit in Avarice and Penguin in Gluttony, the only remaining unassigned bin that fits next to those is “Wrath.” It also fits the process of elimination for the last available slot.

Answer: Wrath
