All Bosses Overview in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree developers have added over 50 bosses of various types, including main, optional, elite, world, and intermediate. Most of them are completely unique and original, showcasing the developers' creativity, while some are slightly modified bosses from the original game or the same type of boss from the expansion.

Each boss requires its own approach to combat, as they have their own abilities, weaknesses, and parameters. This guide describes each boss in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, including their locations.

Main Bosses in Elden Ring DLC

There aren't many main bosses you will have to fight. Among them are several optional ones, but defeating them will make it easier for you to progress through the main locations.

There are 83 bosses in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. Some of them are completely new and unique, and some of them are either familiar to us from the previous main game, or very similar to each other or repeated.

However, there are not so many main bosses to defeat to complete the Shadow of the Erdtree storyline.

Divine Beast Dancing Lion

The first boss you are likely to encounter in the expansion is the Divine Beast Dancing Lion. It can be challenging due to its unusual movements and varied attacks. It is almost constantly in motion, though not always attacking, so it's important to learn the safe moments for attacking and healing. In the second phase, this boss tests your dodging skills with various elemental attacks, switching between fire, lightning, frost, and smoke.

Rellana, Twin Moon Knight

Rellana is the main boss of Ensis Castle. Her attacks are quite complex, especially considering the different combinations among them. In the second phase, she additionally ignites her swords with magic and fire, using powerful ranged attacks.

Golden Hippopotamus

After entering the Shadow Keep, you will be attacked by the Golden Hippopotamus. This boss fight is similar to previous battles with intermediate hippopotamuses you've encountered. However, once the boss's health reaches halfway, it releases golden porcupine spikes that deal damage.

Romina, Saint of the Bud

Romina can be found in the Church of the Bud in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. Despite her hybrid nature, this boss has a rather beautiful design and is relatively easy. She mainly uses ranged attacks and the effect of scarlet rot, and she is vulnerable to bleed attacks with a limited set of close-range moves.

Messmer the Impaler

Messmer can be found at the top of the Shadow Keep and is one of the mandatory bosses in the DLC. He uses elegant strikes and piercing attacks, complemented by fire attacks. His second phase, though visually stunning, has somewhat easier-to-predict attack patterns for dodging.

Needle Knight Leda (and allies)

In the penultimate main storyline, you will have to fight Needle Knight Leda, Dryleaf Dane, and possibly several other characters, depending on your actions in side quests. Some characters may not appear or even become your allies against Leda.

Promised Consort Radahn

The final and most difficult boss in Shadow of the Erdtree is Promised Consort Radahn, whom you have already encountered in the main game. His first phase involves powerful combinations with two large swords, while the second phase significantly increases his activity. In this fight, you will need a maximally upgraded Scadutree Blessing and resistance to holy damage to better withstand the boss.

Remembrance is an item dropped from some bosses that can be exchanged for one of two rewards. To do this, take the Remembrance to Finger Reader Enia in Roundtable Hold and select the desired reward from her. A total of 10 Remembrance can be found in Shadow of Erdtree. Below are presented all Shadow of the Erdtree Remembrance bosses.

Optional bosses in Shadow of Erdtree

Optional bosses are bosses that do not necessarily need to be defeated to progress through the main storyline or the locations associated with it.

Blackgaol Knight

This boss can be found in the Western Nameless Mausoleum. The Blackgaol Knight wields a large sword and a Repeating Crossbow, allowing him to alternate his attacks and prevent easy health recovery. Fortunately, crossbow attacks have a pause interval that you can use to attack the boss.

Furnace Golem

Several Furnace Golems can be found in the DLC. They are almost invulnerable, and to defeat them, you usually need to throw a fire pot into their basket to burn them. These bosses come in two types: armored and unarmored.

Ghostflame Dragon

The Ghostflame Dragon guards the Great Katana near Belurat. Overall, this boss is similar to other dragons. The best tactic against it is to fight while mounted on a horse.

Logur, the Beast Claw

This wild half-naked boss can be found south of Gravesite Plain. He uses a new type of weapon, the Beast Claw, and has no armor, making him vulnerable to most types of damage.

Demi-Human Swordsmaster Onze

Onze can be found at the end of the Belurat Gaol dungeon. Like most demi-human bosses, the fight with him shouldn't be a problem, but remember that he can also use a flask to restore health.

Ancient Dragon-Man

You first encounter this boss when approaching the Dragon's Pit in Gravesite Plain. This boss wields a large katana. However, you will encounter the true form of this boss shortly after the first meeting at the end of the Dragon's Pit dungeon.

Chief Bloodfiend

Rivermouth Cave is home to Chief Bloodfiend, where you will encounter him. Beware of his sudden leap attacks that try to close the distance between you.

Death Knight

A former mighty knight, Godwyn The Golden, can be found at the end of the Fog Rift Catacombs. He uses lightning attacks and has high endurance. Your main task is to disrupt his balance.

Fire Knight Queelign

Queelign is a boss you will have to fight twice. Regardless of the order, a key to the Prayer Room will drop from him, allowing you to complete his quest line and obtain his weapon.

Moonrithyll, Carian Knight

This miniboss in Ensis Castle uses Glintblade Phalanxes and a Great Sword, but otherwise, he is easy to defeat.

Black Knight Edredd

Located near the top of Dockor Fort, Edredd wields a Twinblade and is similar to other Black Knights.

Ralva the Great Red Bear

If you didn't like bears in the original game, then we can congratulate you because they are also in the DLC, and they are somewhat more challenging here. One of these bosses is Ralva, the great brown bear, found in the lake forest of Scadu Altus.

Curseblade Labirith

In Bonny Gaol, you can encounter the boss Curseblade Labirith, who can become invisible during the fight. To reveal him, you will need a torch.

Red Bear

A version of the wild bosses similar to Logur, found in the Northern Nameless Mausoleum. He uses Beast Claws to deal significant damage, so be careful and don't let him impale you on his claws.

Rakshasa

Rakshasa is located in the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum. To reach him, you need to follow the path that branches off near the Recluses' River Downstream grace site; inside, you will see that Rakshasa is an ordinary NPC enemy wielding a large katana and dealing significant damage, but otherwise, he is simple.

Jori, Elder Inquisitor

One of the tough bosses you can challenge in the game. He can be found at the end of the Darklight Catacombs. Jori, Elder Inquisitor, uses ranged sacred attacks and summons assistants, making him difficult and somewhat exhausting.

Swordhand of the Night Anna

If you follow Ymir’s short questline, there will come a time when you notice he is not on the throne in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. You can interact with the throne to open the passage to the Finger Ruins Of Miyr. There, you will be attacked by Swordhand of the Night Anna. Sounds dangerous, but actually, it is not. She is just a complicated NPC enemy.

Commander Gaius

A tough enemy similar to Messmer. Gaius is located in front of the Shadow Keep and uses gravity magic in his second phase.

Rugalea the Great Red Bear

Another bear boss in Elden Ring. Overall, it does not differ much from Rugalea The Great Red Bear. This bear can be found at the Scorpion River.

Demi-Human Queen Marigga

You can meet Marigga in the northwest corner of the Cerulean Coast. Defeating her is very easy, especially if you ride Torrent.

Putrescent Knight

One of the tougher bosses in Shadow of the Erdtree. To reach him, jump off the head of the giant statue near the Fissure Depth grace site. The boss will always pretend to attack, but this is not always the case. You will have plenty of time to drink from a flask. Attack him during those moments when he is not on his horse. Until then, avoid his attacks.

Death Rite Bird

Practically the same boss you could encounter in the original game, also appearing only at night. Often surrounded by other birds, making positioning difficult if you don’t kill them in advance. The boss bird uses a range of strong abilities that can quickly kill you if you're not careful.

Jagged Peak Drake

Climbing Jagged Peak, you will see two dragons fighting each other. You can either wait for them to kill each other or hasten their fate.

Ancient Dragon Senessax

Another boss that can be found at the top of Jagged Peak. Similar to the similar boss in the base game, you saw in the Altus Plateau location.

Bayle the Dread

Perhaps one of the toughest bosses in this DLC, wielding a series of powerful attacks that can only be survived with a high level of Scadutree Blessing. Therefore, it is best to return to this fight when you are ready. During this battle, you can summon Igon to help you.

Madding Hand

Madding Hand is a modest NPC who attacks you on one of the paths in the Abyssal Woods. He wields the eponymous fist weapon, increasing the madness level with each strike. Overall, not the toughest miniboss in the game.

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame

Finally, let's mention Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame — a boss with a large attack radius, colossal area of effect, and quite strong attacks. If you are not careful, this boss can easily kill you.
