Lamenter's Gaol is a short dungeon that ends with a rather tricky boss, the Lamenter. To reach him, you'll need to find a couple of keys to progress further, and importantly, not get lost. This guide will walk you through the key points so you can find all the necessary items in the Lamenter's Gaol dungeon.
How to Reach Lamenter's Gaol
Teleport to the Charo’s Hidden Cave Site of Grace, mount Torrent, and run forward through the river, bypassing tombstones and hostile birds. Then cross the field of red flowers and broken cages. This path will lead you straight to the entrance of the Lamenter's Gaol cave.
Navigating Lamenter's Gaol
Go through the tunnel, activate the Site of Grace, and continue. Turn left and kill the shadow wraith in your path. Enter the door on the right, kill another enemy, and pick up 2 Frozen Maggots.
Gaol Upper Level Key Location
Exit the room and proceed, turning into the next right door. Kill the two shadow wraiths there and take the Gaol Upper Level Key from the chest. You can now exit and continue through the narrow stone bridge.
Prattling Pate "Lamentation"
Near the doorway, kill three enemies, and in the room with cages, kill the mutated monster. Collect the resources on the ground and from the monsters, then enter the next room with a phantom. Loot the corpse for the Prattling Pate "Lamentation."
Chilling Perfume Bottle
Exit the rooms and return to the initial tunnel of Lamenter's Gaol, turning left. Now you can open the door with the previously found Gaol Upper Level Key. Climb down the ladder you see before you.
Defeat the monster emerging from the passage, then head into the room and either kill or ignore the shadow wraiths, taking the Chilling Perfume Bottle. Exit the room and proceed.
Clarifying Horn Charm
Open the door and descend another ladder. Defeat two rats and proceed deeper into the tunnel ahead. At the exit, kill the giant rat, turn right, kill another, and pick up the Clarifying Horn Charm +2.
Hefty Cracked Pot
Go in the opposite direction of the cave, killing a few more small rats along the way. In a nearby tunnel, pick up Innard Meat. Pass through the tunnel and climb the ladder. A monster will ambush you near the door; kill it.
Climb the rocky ledges; a monster will emerge from a pot. Enter the room on the left and continue until the floor collapses. Kill a few shadow wraiths. Exit the room and ascend the stairs, killing more enemies.
At the second turn of the stairs, enter the cave, jumping over the gap, until you reach the room with piles of bones and pots. On one of the piles will be the Hefty Cracked Pot, surrounded by three hostile living pots.
How to Get the Gaol Lower Level Key
Descend and defeat the large pot, taking the Gaol Lower Level Key and Living Jar Shard x6 near the sewage.
Climb the slope near the chest and exit through the cave to the staircase you were on. Descend the stairs to a lower level. In the room on the left, pick up the Call of Tibia, optionally killing two shadow wraiths.
Now exit the room and turn left. There will be an illusory wall that can be dispelled with an attack or a roll forward. Open the door ahead using the previously found key. Pick up the Shadow Realm Rune [4] and Lamenting Visage in the room.
Lamenter Boss Location
Exit the location and return to the staircase, ascending to the top. Enter the room, anticipating an enemy attack from the left. Continue and descend to the lower ledges. Defeat another enemy and open the door using the key. Proceed forward and descend the ladder. There will be the entrance to the boss area.
Lamenter Bossfight
The main difficulty in the boss fight is Lamenter's ability to summon clones and execute an attack that can instantly kill if enough clones aren't destroyed in time. Focusing only on Lamenter can lead to a quick defeat.
Using weapons or spells capable of crowd control, such as long-range melee weapons like the Rivers of Blood katana or Loretta’s War Sickle halberd, is recommended. Clones have no health bar and can be destroyed with one hit, so attack range and speed are crucial.
A massive gravitational aura from the unique skill Starscourge Greatsword and magic that deals area damage can be effective. Summoning allies through ash spirits can also simplify the fight by destroying clones simultaneously.
The hardest aspect of the fight is timely destroying the clones attacking from a distance. Super strong gear and armor are not mandatory; the key is to react to the clones in time and then switch to the main target.
