Elden Ring Shadow of Erdtree features 15 new dungeons where you can explore, acquire interesting items, and gather resources to upgrade your gear. One of the main regions in the game, Rauh Ruins, contains just three dungeons that are not too difficult but feature complex layouts that might pique your interest.
Taylew's Ruined Forge
Taylew's Ruined Forge is located in the Rauh Base area, directly north of the Ancient Ruins Base site of grace. This location can be recognized by the presence of demi-humans mining around a large, torch-lit structure.
How to get to Taylew's Ruined Forge
To reach Rauh Base, enter the secret cave in Scadu Altus. From Moorth Ruins, head northeast to the pool with worms. Pass by them and the statue of Marika to find the cave entrance. Proceed through the cave to reach a poisonous pond with gravebirds.
From there, bypass the birds and continue northeast around the water until you reach the cliff edge. Keep moving forward to arrive at Rauh Base. Then, proceed to unlock the Ancient Ruins Base site of grace.
What can be obtained at Taylew's Ruined Forge
The dungeon features a system of mines and a massive forge filled with stone giants and lava crawlers. Inside, you'll primarily collect numerous smithing stones necessary for weapon upgrades, but you’ll also find interesting items such as the Smithscript Axe, Smithscript Greathammer, Smithscript Shield, Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone x2, and Taylew the Golem Smith Spirit Ash.
Scorpion River Catacombs
Scorpion River Catacombs are located northwest of Rauh Base. From the Ancient Ruins Base site of grace, head southwest past various armored giants and the pillar where you found the map fragment, towards the Temple Town Ruins, inhabited by shadows and filled with water.
From the Temple Town site of grace, follow the river north, circling around it while avoiding decayed enemies and flying scorpions. Eventually, you'll encounter stone coffins and militia. Continue around the lake to find the dungeon entrance.
What can be obtained at Scorpion River Catacombs
In the Scorpion River Catacombs, you’ll face imps (or stone gargoyles) and basilisks, which can petrify and instantly kill you. You can counteract the basilisks' negative effects with Rejuvenating Boluses, found occasionally in the dungeon. The catacombs are quite intricate, requiring some exploration.
At the end, you'll face the Death Knight, who drops the Longhaft Axe and Cerulean Amber Medallion +3, along with 130,000 runes. If you thoroughly clear the dungeon, you'll also find the Lizard Greatsword, Knight's Lightning Spear, Black Knight Captain Huw Spirit Ashes, and Ancient Dragon Knight's Cookbook [2].
Lamenter's Gaol
Lamenter's Gaol is situated in Gravesite Plain, accessible only through Charo's Hidden Grave, reached by passing through Dragon's Pit and Jagged Peak while completing Igon's quest.
How to get to Lamenter's Gaol
From the first site of grace at Jagged Peak, after exiting Dragon's Pit, head south to the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion. Cross the body of a giant dead dragon to access the Hidden Grave area. Walk along its leg southwest to reach a ledge. Jump from this ledge to a grove filled with red flowers and ponds.
From the Charo's Hidden Grave site of grace, head northwest and follow the river west. Descend two waterfalls to reach Gravesite Plain. Continue past scattered cages to find the dungeon entrance.
What can be obtained at Lamenter's Gaol
Inside Lamenter's Gaol, navigate to find a key and pass through an illusory wall to reach the dungeon boss, Lamenter, resembling a faun. The boss isn't too difficult, but one of his abilities can instantly kill you if the fight drags on.
Upon fully clearing the dungeon and defeating the boss, you will receive 160,000 runes, Lamenter's Mask, Call of Tibia, Prattling Pate 'Lamentation', Clarifying Horn Charm +2, and Lamenting Visage.
Preparing for the Dungeons
No specific builds are necessary to tackle the dungeons. They are quite straightforward, with minor nuances requiring attention and quick reactions to avoid hazards.
For each dungeon, consider using additional protection such as physical attack amulets against enemy attacks, status effect reduction for Death Blight against basilisks, or lightning protection when fighting the Death Knight.
The only real challenge might be the encounters with the two dungeon bosses. However, as with most bosses, you can overcome them with a few attempts, and possibly even on your first try if you are fortunate.
