Valorant Champions 2024 peaked at over 9.1 million viewers, most of them from China

Nine million one hundred thousand concurrent viewers watched the most spectacular championship of the season — Valorant Champions 2024 — at its peak. This figure was officially revealed by Leo Faria, the head of esports.

Valorant Champions 2023 vs. 2024

Looking back at the 2023 World Championship, the growth of Valorant's audience becomes evident, as the grand final at that time gathered only 1.29 million viewers, excluding the Chinese audience. This year’s figure surpassed all expectations, with the grand final attracting over 9 million concurrent viewers for this historic event.

Why was Valorant Champions 2024 so popular?

A Chinese team in the grand final, an intense five-map series, the first international trophy for the Chinese region, and the first official world championship featuring teams from the Land of the Rising Sun were the key reasons behind this popularity. Leo Faria stated that around 80% of the 9.1 million viewers were from China.

Can Valorant surpass this number in the future?

This figure is currently exceptionally high. The only event we believe could gather more viewers at its peak would be a World Championship held in China, with Chinese teams competing in the final matches. Such an event could attract even more Chinese viewers and surpass the 9.1 million mark.
