Riot Games continues its fight against toxic players and introduces a new feature in Valorant

The recording of all voice chats and their analysis by artificial intelligence for toxic behavior is what awaits us in future Valorant updates in the EMEA region. Riot Games shared its plans to reduce aggression levels in the game.

Valorant - a toxic game

Riot Games has been successful in combating cheaters, keeping their numbers low, but the situation with toxic players is drastically different — there are far too many of them, constantly preventing Valorant shooter fans from enjoying the game. Even strict rules like extended bans and restrictions from ranked modes do not solve the issue, so the company plans to implement a new system that has already undergone testing.

Artificial intelligence

In mid-October, Riot Games plans to launch a voice data processing system that will record all players' voice chats and store them on servers for 24 hours. Artificial intelligence will analyze this data and make a judgment if a player’s behavior was inappropriate. Currently, the system has gone through initial testing in North America but is still in the beta-testing stage and will only process recordings in English.

Opting out?

After the launch of this new method to combat toxic players, every player will receive an in-game notification with the option to opt out of having their voice chat recorded. However, if a player chooses to opt out, they will not be able to use voice chat in the future, and without it, playing ranked mode will be impossible.
