Gen.G defeated Team Heretics in the final of the VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai tournament with a score of 3-2. In a tense showdown, the decisive contribution came from Gen.G player Lakia, who explained his unconventional decision to use his ultimate ability after finishing one of the rounds.

The situation occurred in the 11th round on the fourth map, Lotus, with Gen.G leading 8-2. Lakia secured the final kill, winning the round, and activated Nightfall's ultimate ability, even though the round was not the final one. During his stream, Lakia shared the reasons for this decision.

As for using the ult on Lotus, I thought it was the last round of the first half. After I killed the enemy, I shouted 'Die!' and activated the ult, but my teammates asked, 'What are you doing? Why did you use the ult?' Then I looked at the score and saw it was 8-3. I thought, 'This is bad. If we lose the next round, it will be entirely my fault for changing the game plan.

Despite this, the next round also ended in favor of Gen.G, and they won the Lotus map with a score of 13-4. On the fifth map, Split, the team maintained their advantage and won with a score of 13-3, becoming the first champions of an international tournament in the Pacific League.
