Last night, American professional esports player Katja "katsumi" Pfahnl shared her thoughts about her future on her Twitter account. Update + Leaving GC
— katsumi (@katsumiFPS) October 15, 2023
It’s not something I want to make a big deal of, but I’m not going to be playing in Game Changers moving forward, and I have no plans to return at this time. I am going to continue competing, but I am changing course away from GC.
I’ve always seen Game…
In the last competitive season, Katja spent her time with XSET but was unable to achieve significant success. The team failed both stages of VCT 2023: Game Changers North America, resulting in them not qualifying for the women's world championship. Following this, katsumi left the team and today told fans she would no longer participate in the women's league.
This is not something I want to dwell on, but I will no longer play in Game Changers and do not plan to return for now. I will continue to compete but am changing my course and moving away from GC because I have always viewed Game Changers as a temporary phase, not an end goal. I am very grateful for the last 2 years spent in the Game Changers competitions. GC has been a very comfortable, safe, and stable place for me to explore the competitive world. However, for me personally, I think it's time to start feeling uncomfortable to really push myself.
Additionally, the esports player announced that she has already found a new team. Along with Danny "huynh" Huynh, Reid "x0tek" Johnson, Jason "JSUNG" Sung, and Luis “Papi” Canelon, she will be playing in a new squad, which they have not yet named. They will attempt to qualify for the Challengers tournament stage to test their skills alongside other contenders.
