G2 Esports signs former The Guard roster and enters the fight in VCT Americas League

Late last night, representatives from the renowned American organization G2 Esports announced great news for all their fans on their Twitter account. According to the post, the team has signed the former roster of The Guard and secured their spot in the American VCT league.

Recall that there was buzz around The Guard for some time within the entire Valorant community. The team had triumphed at the Valorant Challengers Ascension 2023: Americas, which earned them an invite to the highest competitive league in the American region - the VCT Americas League. Later, Riot Games announced that after months of preparation, The Guard would not participate in upcoming competitions due to failure to prepare the required documents. As a result, the American organization was stripped of its coveted spot in the VCT Americas League 2024. Read more about it in our article.

Following this, the game community rallied behind the players, stating that the fault lies solely with the organization and the esports players should be given an opportunity to find a new club. Recently, Riot Games responded to the community's plea and allowed the former players of The Guard to find a new home for the upcoming competitive season. You can read more about this in our article.

The new organization, as we mentioned earlier, is the German G2 Esports, whose previous roster was disbanded following an unsuccessful performance in the 2023 competitive season.

New G2 Esports roster

  • Michael “neT” Bernet
  • Jonah “JonahP” Pulice
  • Trent “trent” Cairns
  • Jacob “valyn” Batio
  • Josh “JoshRT” Le (head coach)

For now, the team consists of just four former The Guard players. The club will need to find a fifth member soon, as Ian "Tex" Botsch has announced he doesn't plan on playing with his former teammates in the future.
