The Valorant off-season brings numerous exciting events for viewers, but this year something truly unexpected has occurred. Ahead of the grand final of the VALORANT Radiant Asia Invitational, a show match will take place featuring Chinese players and, surprisingly, Ukrainian CS:GO and CS2 star Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev.
What We Know About the Event
The VALORANT Radiant Asia Invitational is one of the off-season tournaments for Valorant. Organized by TJ Sports with support from Riot Games and sponsorship from FIREOPEN and DXRacer, the event is being held in a LAN format in Chengdu, China. Eight teams are participating, including the reigning world champions EDward Gaming and other notable teams from the Chinese and Pacific regions. The tournament's prize pool remains undisclosed.
The Show Match and s1mple's Unexpected Appearance
Before the grand final, scheduled for December 1 at 11:00 EET, the event organizers announced a show match. This match will feature various stars and media personalities from the Asian region, including players like DANK1NG, Forever, Gus, and others. The participants are divided into two teams, red and blue, for a series of friendly matches.
Unexpectedly, Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev, a professional CS:GO and CS2 player with little connection to the Valorant universe, is listed as part of the blue team. The participant list was shared on the tournament's official Weibo account.
As of now, s1mple has not commented on his appearance in the show match, leaving his fans to speculate about why he decided to take part in a Valorant event.
