EDward Gaming

EDward Gaming (EDG) is one of the top Chinese clubs that gained fame through its teams in Valorant and League of Legends. The organization was founded in 2013 by businessman Edward Gu (朱一航). As for EDward Gaming Valorant, the first team was officially signed in 2020. While none of the players from that roster remain in the current lineup, this hasn't stopped the team from achieving success.

The team's journey in Valorant has been challenging and rocky. The game officially launched only in 2023, and before 2023, the Chinese Valorant esports scene was still in its early stages of development. The lack of competitive teams and a limited number of tournaments significantly slowed progress, making the team’s schedule look less busy. However, in 2022, the region received a long-awaited opportunity — a slot in Valorant Champions. EDward Gaming seized this chance, and after defeating all its regional rivals, the team qualified for the tournament and showed incredible stats, not losing a single match in the Last Chance Qualifiers. Despite finishing near the bottom, this debut was an important step in the team's development.

The year 2023 marked a breakthrough for EDward Gaming. The organization dominated the Chinese Valorant scene, regularly finishing first or second in regional tournaments. The team also gained valuable experience on the international stage. EDG participated in matches against international teams for the first time at the VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo tournament, and later qualified for Masters Tokyo, where they earned a respectable 5-6th place. These results solidified EDward Gaming’s status as one of the leading teams in China.

2024 became a true triumph for EDward Gaming. Riot Games officially launched the VCT China league, and EDG Valorant received a direct invitation to participate. In their debut season, the team won every possible regional tournament, solidifying their title as the strongest team in China, and the players earned numerous awards for their performances.

On the international stage, EDward Gaming continued their success, participating in the year's key events: VCT 2024: Masters Madrid, VCT 2024: Masters Shanghai, and the main event of the year — VALORANT Champions 2024. At Champions, EDG made a historic breakthrough, becoming the world's strongest team and the first Chinese organization to win an international Valorant tournament. This achievement was accomplished under the leadership of Valorant EDward Gaming coach, Tang "Muggle" Shijun. The champion EDward Gaming roster included: Wan "CHICHOO" Shunzhi, Wang "nobody" Senxu, Zheng "ZmjjKK" Yongkang, Zhang "Smoggy" Zhao, and Hsieh "S1Mon" Meng-hsun.
