The biggest changes to the American Valorant scene during the 2024 offseason
The biggest changes to the American Valorant scene during the 2024 offseason

Although Valorant's off-season does not bring viewers spectacular matches at major international events where teams fight for hundreds of thousands of dollars, it is no less important than the rest of the season. During the OFF//SEASON, organizations and teams make drastic changes to their main and coaching rosters on Valorant to prepare for the upcoming competitions. Therefore, today, our editorial team has prepared a material for you, in which we will tell you about the biggest and most important changes in the American VCT scene, during the 2024 off-season.

Before we begin, we would like to note that while creating the material, Bo3 editorial team asked for comments from the famous Ukrainian coach Ivan “Johnta” Shevtsov, who is currently the head coach of ZETA DIVISION. Johnta shared his expert opinion on the changes in the American scene and talked about some possible rivals.

Aspas' transfer from Leviatan to MIBR

The first transfer that probably excites all the viewers and fans of the American Valorant scene is related to a duelist who is considered the best in the world. Erick “aspas” Santos became a world champion in 2022 with LOUD, and since then he has been considered one of the best players on the professional Valorant scene. However, in 2023, he moved to Leviatan, after which he had some difficulties. A few months after he joined, rumors started circulating online that aspas was unhappy with the club's policy. First of all, it concerned the farewell to the player Nozwerr, who is a friend of aspas. The second reason was that the team management was rumored to not allow him to make certain decisions regarding the game. As a result, it has recently become known that aspas is leaving the Argentine club and joining MIBR. The latter showed rather mediocre results last season, so we asked Johnta what he thinks about the new Brazilian team.

Brazilians know how to play VALORANT and can always surprise. Although last season was not successful for mibr, with the signing of such a superstar as aspas, everything can change. Plus, their coach is the legendary fr0D, who I think knows exactly how to bring the team to a decent level. I think they may well surprise this season.

Demon1 joins Leviatan

No less important news about the change in Leviatan concerns another world champion - Max “Demon1” Mazanov, who calls himself the best player. In 2023, he became the world champion as a member of Evil Geniuses, after which he left the organization due to contractual issues and spent a rather mediocre 2024 as a member of NRG. But despite such results in the current season, Demon1 is still considered one of the strongest players and duelists, although not as stable as the above-described aspas, and therefore he was signed by Leviatan to replace the latter. These two are often called the best players in the world, and every fan of the American Valorant scene should follow their careers.

Large-scale changes in the Sentinels lineup

Another of the most important changes in the American Valorant scene includes the farewell of the most famous team in the region, Sentinels, with two players at once - Tyson “TenZ” Ngo and Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi. At the beginning of the current offseason, both players announced the end of their professional careers, TenZ became a team streamer, and Sacy simply left the Valorant competitive scene. Such decisions will definitely affect the team, and first of all, its fans, for whom this duo was the main backbone of the team. However, they were replaced by Sean “bang” Bezerra and Marshall “N4RRATE” Massey, and Johnta is highly optimistic about the band's chances.

Sentinels has a very powerful roster. If they quickly feel the chemistry and connection between the players, they can be a top team not only in America but also on the international stage.

Farewell to the LOUD captain

Among the most important changes during Valorant's offseason are the drastic changes in the composition of the top Brazilian team LOUD. During the current period, the team was left by captain Matias “Saadhak” Delipetro, who is moving to Karmine Corp. Saadhak was in the first LOUD roster that appeared in early 2022. During his time as IGL, he helped the team win the 2022 World Championship and several other tournaments. Although many players have already left LOUD, it is the captain's departure that is key to their future career, and it is unclear who can replace him. That's why, according to Johnta, it's quite difficult to evaluate and predict the updated lineup.

Loud has a complete rebuild, because not only the captain Saadhack left, but also one of the key players Less. It's a new team now. It's very difficult to make any predictions and forecast their future.

Jawgemo joins G2 Esports

The G2 Esports roster consists of players who won the Challengers League title and received a slot in the VCT Americas. But before the start of the new competitive season, another champion joined their roster - Alexander “jawgemo” Mor, who won the Valorant Champions in 2023 as part of Evil Geniuses. Although G2 showed good results on the competitive scene even with a young roster, the addition of such an experienced player as jawgemo should significantly strengthen them.

Bang is leaving 100 Thieves

Another important change in the American Valorant scene is the departure of Sean “bang” Bezerra from 100 Thieves, where he has been for the past two years. Interestingly, after his departure, he joined Sentinels, which we wrote about above. Therefore, it will be interesting to follow the young player's career in 2025 to see if he can maintain the high level of the American team. Johnta praised the chances of 100 Thieves in the upcoming season and also stated that he has always loved following this team.

I really liked 100T with Boostio this year, plus I could see the good work of their coach Ziks who came to them from EG. I was even sad to see them weaken in the second half of the season. Of course, I don't know the reasons, but I hope they have analyzed them and will become better. I think they have a lot of potential.

New Evil Geniuses lineup

The 2023 World Champions, Evil Geniuses, also made large-scale changes to their Valorant roster. In addition to extending the contracts of three core players, the team signed two new players, including the well-known Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker, who was a finalist at Valorant Champions 2022. In addition, the organization also extended the contract with the most famous coach on the professional scene, Valorant. Johnta believes that these factors will help EG to prove itself in the future.

I like the coaching hand of Potter, she has proven to be a top coach and if the club supports her vision and believes in her, as they did in 2023, EG should be fine. They have a good roster, it will be interesting to see how yay comes back. If he has the energy to prove to everyone that he is a really top player after his bad experience in BLEED, they can make a shot.
