The regular season in the Valorant Americas region is in full swing, and half of the events are already behind us. The second stage of the qualifiers VCT 2025 Americas Stage 1, where teams competed for invitations to two prestigious international events. That is why, below, we will tell you how the tournament ended and pay special attention to the strongest team in the region, G2 Esports, which became the winner.
Basic information about the tournament
Before we start, we would like to remind you of the basic information about the event. VCT 2025: Americas Stage 1 took place from March 21 to May 4 in LAN format in Los Angeles at Riot Games Arena. The event was attended by 12 teams from the VCT affiliate program in the Americas region. There was no prize money at the tournament, but instead, the teams competed for 3 invitations to Masters Toronto 2025, 2 slots in the brand new Esports World Cup 2025 tournament, as well as Americas points needed to qualify for the World Championship.

G2 Esports - The strongest team in the region
As everyone probably already knows, the winner of the tournament was G2 Esports, which defeated Sentinels in the grand final with a score of 3:1. Thanks to this, G2 received invitations to Masters Toronto 2025, Esports World Cup 2025, and 10 Americas Points, which put the team on the first position in the regional table with a total of 16 points and almost guaranteed a place at the upcoming World Championship.

The team showed very good results, earned only one defeat and became the tournament champion. That is why we will tell you in detail about G2 Esports' path to VCT 2025: Americas Stage 1.

Not a single defeat during the group stage
The dominance of G2 Esports began when they played in the Omega group. The team had the role of a favorite, and it confirmed it without any problems. Throughout the group stage, G2 did not lose any of the five matches, and lost only 3 maps out of 13 played. The team defeated the following teams:
- G2 Esports 2:0 FURIA
- G2 Esports 2:1 MIBR
- G2 Esports 2:0 NRG
- G2 Esports 2:1 Leviatan
- G2 Esports 2:1 Cloud9

Dominance in the playoffs
With such a great result, the team went straight to the semifinals of the top bracket in the playoffs, where they unexpectedly earned their only defeat of the entire tournament. In the match against Sentinels, G2 lost 1-2 and fell to the lower bracket.

If we determine the reason for the defeat, we can only point to the last desideratum of Ascent. The fact is that the team played quite a few matches on it, only 28, which is not the highest indicator. Sentinels, on the other hand, played 83 professional matches on Ascent, with 60% of victories. That's why G2 most likely lost their only match in the tournament and fell to the losers.

But despite the defeat, G2 players had no plans to give up. The team went on to win three games in a row and advanced to the grand final, where they took revenge on Sentinels for their 3-1 defeat and eventually became the tournament champions.
Trent's unique performance and MVP title
Winning the Grand Final is definitely a hard team effort, but if we were to single out the player who made the biggest contribution, it would be Trent “Trent” Kearns. In the last match, he played with a KD of +22, making as many as 73 kills, which earned him the MVP title.

But the most interesting thing is the choice of agents, or rather one agent. The fact is that during the entire VCT 2025 Americas Stage 1 tournament, trent played only on Tejo. The player played all 30 matches during the group and playoff stages on one agent.

And his statistics are really great. Out of 30 matches, he lost only 9 and won 21, which means 70% of victories on one agent. It should be noted that such results are not only the merit of the player himself, but also the strength of the agent Tejo since its release a few months ago was considered too strong by the community, and the developers have already promised to weaken it in the upcoming patch 10.09.

Great start to the 2025 season
After the victory, G2 Esports continued to hold the title of the strongest team in the region and one of the best in the world. We would like to remind you that this became possible after the team won the first stage of the VCT 2025 Americas Kickoff qualifiers. Thanks to this, G2 qualified for the Masters Bangkok 2025, where it won second place. Together with the victory at the current qualifiers, G2 Esports has already won 2 victories and one silver medal since the beginning of the season, making it one of the most successful teams of the beginning of 2025.

Final distribution of teams
Despite the fact that there was no cash prize at the event, as mentioned above, the teams still fought for important slots and points. Below, you can see the final result of VCT 2025 Americas Stage 1 and the awards received by each team.
