In Tekken 8, the rank indicates the ability of the player in online competition. The ranks affect matchmaking, unlock cosmetic content, and serve as a measure of progress in Ranked mode. The system consists of over 35 ranks in color-coded sets. Advancing to the higher levels involves winning individual matches as well as having a stable win ratio.
Notably, losses can reduce rank starting from Warrior level and above. Rankings are calculated separately for each character, though overall account experience is also factored into matchmaking.

With the release of Season 2, a new category called God of Destruction was introduced, consisting of several sub-levels. This was implemented to create more competition among top players, as previously, most had no further goals after reaching Tekken God Supreme.
Another interesting fact: the rankings are awarded independently character by character. That is, if a user becomes Tekken God with a character, they would need to start virtually from scratch again with another.
