One of the creators of the Assembly map, Almaas - "I always wanted to work for Epic Games and the Unreal Engine itself"

Almaas, who is one of the creators of the new map Assembly, in an interview for the telegram channel CS2 UA shared details about his path and the process of map development. He talked about his education, map creation and future projects.

He originally studied industrial automation, but switched to software engineering. A few years ago, he and yesber created a successful training map for CS:GO. He currently works at Siemens Energy, working on underwater pressure and temperature sensors.

The idea for Assembly started a few years ago with Quoting and Huvaligen, but remained unrealized until Huvaligen suggested the idea to Thomas and Almaas. Work on the map took over a year, first for Source 1 and then for Source 2 after CS2 was announced. This process involved reworking each texture to utilize the new PBR textures, which is a rendering method that provides realistic rendering of materials and lighting.

Almaas expressed great joy when Valve approached them about officially using the map in the game. Seeing people play their map has been very satisfying. The team, including Thomas and Catfood (known for the Mills map), are currently working on a new map called Warden, inspired by Alcatraz, for a major Mapcore competition.

Although he hasn't been following eSports lately, Almaas shared the joy of working at Siemens Energy, dreaming of working at Epic Games and on the Unreal Engine. Creating maps on Source 2 is much easier compared to Source 1, as most of the work is done within the engine. This cuts down on time and effort considerably.

Lately, he has been enjoying playing on Ancient. However, Vertigo seems different after the latest update, perhaps due to the lack of time spent on this map.
