The IEM Rio 2024 has concluded, with NAVI taking the victory once again. NAVI managed to win in a BO5, which is a minor shock, as they had previously won only one final in a BO5 format.
That victory was in the final of the ESL Pro League Season 20 against Eternal Fire, where NAVI won with a score of 3-2.
Interesting Facts
NAVI’s appearance in the final allowed them to match the success of FaZe, who reached six consecutive finals at the release of CS2. Also, Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen, NAVI's captain, has only managed to win one map in the finals of the IEM tournament in his entire career.
MOUZ also has interesting aspects, one of which is that torzsi, xertioN, siuhy, and Jimpphat have never lost a map in a BO5 final in their careers.
Match Details
The first map was Inferno, where NAVI started with a lost pistol round, which wasn't ideal. They managed to win a series of rounds, so the half ended 7-5 in favor of MOUZ. However, in the second half, NAVI performed very well and won 13-11. After the match, it was revealed that NAVI had won the first map in a BO5 final for the first time since the ESL Pro League Season 14 final.
The second map was Dust 2, where NAVI completely dominated the opponent in the first half, winning it 10-2. In the second half, they simply closed out the game with a 13-2 victory.
The third was Mirage, where MOUZ showed a commendable performance and won the first half 8-4. In the second half, they expertly sealed the map with a 13-6 score.
The fourth map was Ancient, where MOUZ started very strong, winning the first half 10-2, which was shocking to all. Thoughts even arose of a possible defeat not just in the map, but in the match. However, NAVI managed to stage an incredible comeback and win the map 13-11.
