The Armory operation that was recently released in CS2 has brought players a lot of new items, but many face financial difficulties due to the low return on investment. The cost of the Armory pass is $17, and unfortunately, most of the items from the operation do not justify this cost.
Lack of payback: why is this a problem?
The main problem was that out of all the new items, only the Gallery case turned out to be profitable, providing a small return of +8% on the stars invested. Other items lost value in the market, showing a negative payback. Players who were counting on the opportunity to earn money or at least get their money back remain disappointed:
- The high cost of the pass ($17) does not correlate with the low market value of most items.
- Disappointment of players who do not receive adequate financial gain from purchasing stars to unlock these items.
- Unprofitable investment for those who buy the pass only to get new items with the hope of selling them later.

Decrease in the value of Armory items
Due to market oversaturation or lack of great demand, items from the Armory operation began to lose their value quickly. For example, items such as the limited edition Arsenal item have lost up to 70% of their value. This means that players who spent stars to purchase these items will suffer significant losses.
How does this affect the community?
Many players are dissatisfied because their expectations regarding the profitability of the transaction were not met. Players who spent real money on the pass are disappointed that they cannot recoup their investment even if the items are resold. This may reduce interest in future operations if Valve does not revise the mechanics of releasing and distributing items on the market.
Thus, against the background of the high cost of the pass and low market return, the Armory operation currently looks unprofitable for most players.
