Epic Games has released the Fortnite Ballistic v34.20 patch, which includes several gameplay changes, bug fixes, and the first official details about the upcoming map for the Ballistic mode — Hammer Fall, set to be released on April 8.
While the update doesn't feature a large amount of new content, it focuses on enhancing the gameplay experience through specific weapon balance adjustments, changes in the in-game economy, and the resolution of many issues related to gameplay, visual effects, and the system as a whole.
The new patch updates the stats of several popular weapons.
Weapon | Changes |
Hammer Pump Shotgun | Received a slight increase in firing rate and a significant boost in close-range damage |
Frenzy Auto Shotgun | Now deals more damage at both close and medium range |
Thunder Burst SMG | Improved with a slight increase in damage and firing rate |
Striker AR | Nerfed — the distance at which damage drop-off begins is now shorter. |
The in-game economy of Ballistic has also been adjusted.
The price of the Reaper Sniper Rifle has been reduced from 4700 to 4500 credits, and the Drum Gun from 3500 to 3200. Meanwhile, the Striker AR and Nemesis AR have increased in price from 2500 to 2700 credits.
Numerous gameplay issues have been addressed, including problems with the mantling mechanic, notifications from the Recon Grenade, and gadget selection on consoles.
The Bubble Shield will now break if it absorbs more than 600 damage, even before the 6-second timer ends.
Additionally, the Smoke Grenade now activates faster, enhancing players' tactical effectiveness. Also, Recon Grenades can now be destroyed and will pulse red if used by enemies.
Developers have also fixed several visual bugs: players clipping through the camera while crouching, reticles disappearing during sliding, camera shaking after mantling, etc. Issues related to spectating, interface indicators, and the post-round screen have also been resolved.
The Fortnite Ballistic v34.20 patch fixes bugs like the ability to move during the victory screen, incorrect countdown timers during the buy phase, as well as progress issues in matches and ranking. The readiness status of the group leader in the Ballistic lobby and a duplicated Scoreboard button on mobile devices have also been fixed.
Epic Games shared updated information about the further development of the Ballistic mode, which is still in early access. Priorities include new maps, additional starting weapon options, improved inventory management, and more effective methods to combat AFK players, as requested by players. A surrender feature is in development and will appear early in the summer. Flexible HUD customization options are also being explored.
The upcoming map Hammer Fall, officially announced in this patch, will feature a vertical, castle-like arena, allowing for new tactical matches. It will initially appear as a "shell map," without final detailing, so the team can gather feedback and refine its design before the final release.
