Yesterday, during a regular match in Valorant, the new system aimed at preventing toxic language unjustly blocked a French player. This was reported on Twitter by the RIB.GG portal.

Guess we need a way to detect language?#VALORANT pic.twitter.com/tatRAFIJPw
As the representatives of the site report, during the match one of the participants was late to its start and was absent for a while. After the player returned to the game, he decided to apologize to the team using a message in the text chat. What is interesting is that the player communicates in French and decided to use it during the apologies. As a result, after the apologies, the player received a ban on using both chats until the end of the match.
His phrase sounded like - “cou cou la team désolé pour mon retard très pertinent”, which literally translates as - “qq team, sorry for my delay”. Most likely, the Riot recognition system misunderstood the language in which the message was written and reacted to the word “retard”. Which translates from French as delay, and from English as retarded, which is often used by toxic players intending to offend someone.
After the uproar on Twitter, the Valorant community created a discussion on Reddit, in which it addressed Riot Games representatives, asking to improve the recognition system. The latter have not yet responded to the community's appeal, but we want to note that this is not the first time the system unjustly blocks players for no reason. In the comments, players began to share their experiences of unfair blocking, which they, or their acquaintances, encountered and there turned out to be quite a few such cases.
