The Chinese top team EDward Gaming advanced to the grand finals of the Valorant China Evolution Series Act 1: Variation

Yesterday, the upper bracket final concluded as part of the CN Evolution Series event organized by TJ Sports with support from Riot Games. In the match between EDward Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix, the former clinched a victory with a score of 2-0, securing their spot in the tournament grand finals.

The first skirmish took place on Lotus, and map holders FunPlus Phoenix had a confident start. Securing 7 rounds from their opponents, they only lost 5 in return, which made them the winners of the first half. However, after switching sides, the Chinese top team EDward Gaming completely turned the tables, devastating their opponents with a round score of 7-1. Ultimately, the match ended in favor of EDward Gaming with a final score of 13-8.

Next, the teams moved on to Sunset, where the gameplay didn't seem like a finals fight at all. EDward Gaming fully justified their map pick by defeating their opponents in the first half with a score of 10-2. After sides changed, FunPlus Phoenix players tried to make a comeback, but the gap was too significant. The match concluded with EDward Gaming triumphing with a score of 13-5.

As a result of the meeting, EDward Gaming becomes the first grand finals participant, while FunPlus Phoenix drops to the lower bracket final, where they will face Rare Atom on September 30th. It's worth noting that the Valorant China Evolution Series Act 1: Variation is taking place from September 23rd to October 1st in a LAN format in Shanghai at the League Arena. Eight teams from China are competing for a total prize pool of $38,178 and four slots to the next competition stage.
