Riot Games shares plans for Valorant Challengers league until 2028

Recently, new details about the tier-2 Challengers league emerged online, shared by the organizers at Riot Games themselves. The published image reveals the company's plans they are building for contender players.

It's worth noting that the Valorant community has recently been paying a lot of attention to the Challengers scene, thanks to significant changes that have become known. Starting next year, Riot Games plans to allow ordinary players to enter esports through the in-game Premier mode. Read more about this in our material. Such changes mean that the tier-2 scene should actively develop, and recently the developers even shared their vision of the future.

In the image titled Challenger Promotion Calendar, one can see what will happen with the contender's league in the future. The first interesting point can be noted starting in 2025, judging from the image, Riot Games plans to give two partnership slots for winning the Ascension tournament. Also, it seems incredible that the organizers believe that starting in 2027, each Challengers region will have 14 teams, making a total of 56 teams worldwide. This seems quite unrealistic, considering the current problems in the tier-2 scene.

Note that these are just distant plans for the future, and if Riot Games do not solve the problems of tier-2 teams now, what is planned in the calendar will not be realized. We continue to follow official sources and await other comments.
