MiTH suspends VALORANT division operations: players and management share their thoughts

The Thai esports organization MiTH has announced a temporary suspension of its VALORANT division due to financial and organizational challenges. CGRS, one of the team’s players, shared his emotions and reflections on the situation during a personal stream.

I wanted to keep playing with this team. Honestly, I feel like crying. This was a team where everyone understood the issues, worked on solving them, and aimed for victory. It truly hurts. We had talented players, and I’m proud to have been part of this team.
CGRS noted

He also emphasized that the past year had been significant for him, though it came with major sacrifices:

Last year was incredibly important to me. I gave it my all and was happy, but it came with great sacrifices. Now, I need to find balance in my life. Unfortunately, I understand that I can no longer play with this team. It’s inevitable.

CGRS also addressed the challenges faced by Tier 2 competitive teams:

Succeeding in Tier 2 is nearly impossible. To qualify for the league, you need to defeat not only teams from Thailand but also opponents from across Southeast Asia, Korea, and Japan. On top of that, only one team gets promoted to the league. Even if you make it, the league lasts just 1–2 years.

Founded in 2010, MiTH has long been a leader in the Southeast Asian esports scene. The organization has represented teams in disciplines such as CS:GO, Apex Legends, PUBG, and Dota 2, and it entered VALORANT in 2020. Since then, MiTH has claimed two championships and five runner-up finishes in VCT tournaments across Thailand and Southeast Asia.

The 2024 season saw bright moments for MiTH, including a victory in the VCL 2024 Thai Split 1, a second-place finish in Split 2, and the final series. However, the team failed to secure a spot in the Ascension tournament, and the organization has now officially withdrawn from the VCL 2025 SEA Split 1.

MiTH management has also criticized the current state of esports. According to the CEO, a lack of investment from Riot Games, an exclusive contract with the SOOP platform limiting community engagement, and low profitability have led to widespread closures of teams in Thailand.

This decision has come as a blow to MiTH fans, but the organization has stated that it will continue to develop its other esports divisions.
