Maryville Esports announces mCe as new head coach, aiming to Lead the first Collegiate team to Challengers

Maryville Esports has announced through their social media channels the signing of a new head coach, Matthew "mCe" Elmore, a former mentor for teams such as Cloud9, The Guard, and Gen.G Esports.

Renowned and experienced coach Matthew "mCe" Elmore has joined Maryville Esports with the objective of discovering the potential in young talents and aiding their ascent from the grassroots to the pinnacle of esports. His goal is to lead the first collegiate Valorant team to the Challengers league.

My goal by making this move is to encourage young adults that collegiate is a viable route through tier two while helping set themselves up for success long term. There's some uncertainty out there in the t2/3 space and it makes sense to me that collegiate can help naturally fill that void. I'm aiming to take the first collegiate Valorant team into Challengers.

Other professional coaches, commenting under mCe's post, expressed admiration for his vision and wished him success in this challenging endeavor. In 2024, there are two paths to enter the Challengers league - through the in-game Premier mode and qualifiers. However, starting from 2025, all teams will be selected exclusively from the Premier mode.

The next Challengers season is set to begin in early 2024, so the newly formed team under Matthew "mCe" Elmore's guidance could potentially qualify for the second split in the most successful scenario.
