BOOM Esports releases their only Valorant coach after receiving a VCT invitation

The Indonesian tier-2 team BOOM Esports recently received great news, becoming part of the VCT league in the Pacific region. As a result, the team has begun preparing for the upcoming season, with the first major change being the departure of their only coach, Ji "meow" Dong-jun, who had led the team for the past 3 years.

A few days ago, the Valorant community was surprised by an unexpected announcement from Riot Games. The team Bleed Esports, which held a partner slot in the VCT, was disqualified for failing to comply with reporting rules and other important requirements for partnered teams. The replacement is BOOM Esports, which placed 2nd at this year’s VCT Ascension Pacific 2024 and was on the verge of earning a partner slot.

Farewell to the coach

Since the level of competition in the VCT is much higher than in the Challengers, the team needs to prepare for future challenges. The first major change was saying goodbye to coach Ji "meow" Dong-jun. In his official social media accounts, he wrote that the club’s management told him to look for a new team, so he is open to any offers.

Meow had been managing the club for the past three years. During this time, his team achieved the following trophies: 1st place at VCT 2022: Indonesia Stage 1 Challengers, 13-16th place at VALORANT Champions 2022, 1st place at VALORANT Challengers 2023: Indonesia Split 2, 3-4th place at VCT Ascension Pacific 2023, and 2nd place at VCT Ascension Pacific 2024. Thanks to him, BOOM Esports became one of the strongest tier-2 teams in the Pacific region, making his sudden dismissal quite unpleasant.
