In just a month, the well-known American television Emmy Awards, which serve as the television equivalent of the Oscar Awards, will take place. Among all of this year's contenders, Valorant has also been found, as became known after the announcement of all the nominees.
In the official social networks of Sports Emmys, the contenders for the award for “Best Esports Championship Coverage of 2023” were published. Among the five contenders was also Valorant, represented by the Valorant Champions 2023 grand final. In addition to Valorant, the list of nominees included: Worlds 2023 for League of Legends, Blast Paris Major 2023 for CS:GO, and IEM Cologne 2023 for CS:GO.
It is worth mentioning that in the grand final of Valorant Champions 2023, Paper Rex met with Evil Geniuses. As a result of four tense maps, the latter claimed victory with a score of 3-1 and received the world champion title, along with 1,000,000$ in prize money. It should be noted that despite the popularity of the event, the grand final did not break the record for viewership. At the peak of popularity, 1,291,045 viewers watched the match.
The upcoming Emmy ceremony will take place in a little over a month, on May 21. We will follow the awards to find out if the shooter from Riot Games can take home another award.
