Steel announced the end of his career after 15 years of playing various versions of Counter-Strike

Last night it became known that PGL Major Kraków 2017 finalist Lucas steel Lopez announced the end of his career. The main reason was that the player lost the motivation to compete.

The Brazilian's career began back in 2009 with Counter-Strike Source. But he only managed to achieve clear success in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Indeed, in Counter-Strike 2 he played several tournaments and then stopped. Over his 15-year career, he managed to earn $196,597 in prizes. And his main achievements for his career were:

  • DreamHack Open Atlanta 2018 (2nd place)
  • DreamHack Open Valencia 2018 (2nd place)
  • cs_summit 2 (1st place)
  • Intel Extreme Masters XII — World Championship (3-4th place)
  • StarLadder & i-League StarSeries Season 4 (3rd place)
  • PGL Major Kraków 2017 (2nd place)

Steel stood out in the CS:Source scene in the late 2000s and moved to CS:GO after its release, playing for the first Brazilian team ProGaming.TD at an international level. In 2017, he reached the peak of his career, leading Immortals to the PGL Major Krakow final. Later he moved to Liquid, winning cs_summit 2 and reaching the semifinals of IEM Katowice 2018.

Steel stayed in the North American organization for only five months, after which he returned to Luminosity, for which he played in 2015. Then he moved to Madrid to play for Movistar Riders. After spending two years in the Spanish organization, he returned to his roots and played for Brazilian teams Case and Flamengo.

The player's statistics for the last 12 months look like this:

I lost the desire to compete. Competitions stopped being fun for me, as it was during Immortals and Team Liquid.
I tried very hard, but there came a time when I realized that it was no longer cool. A lot of disappointments, a lot of bad feelings, so I decided to focus on streaming.

I think I had an incredible career. I achieved incredible results and am very pleased with myself. But I will always have the feeling that I could have done much more. There is no doubt about that.

The last team for the player was Flamengo, which he left in October 2023, but the guys still haven't been able to find a replacement for him.
