Exclusive: ex-Party Astronauts CS2 player speaks on what led his team to a sudden demise

Party Astronauts ceased to exist due to an internal conflict between FaNg, Walco and Axed. Despite ambitious plans for the season, the team collapsed due to the tense atmosphere and lack of trust between the players. Axed and Walco claimed that the roster changes were made without consultation, accusing FaNg of having an excessive ego, while he responded by saying that the team had done everything possible to succeed.

After a series of conflicts, the team completely disintegrated. Walco and Axed left the group, and ben1337 expressed his disappointment that the situation had gotten out of hand. As a result, Party Astronauts lost the opportunity to play in the ECL due to incorrect decisions regarding the roster, which was the final blow to the team.

Team would've 100% survived and thrived had Fang not had an enormous ego or if Ben had taken action to try and deal with it as opposed to letting it go rampant for so long. Tommy and I tried to give our input without over-stepping and taking over the team and while tactically we improved a little bit, attitude and egos did not.

Walco and Axed joined the team on January 13. During their time with the roster, the team participated in only two qualifiers and one tournament. In CCT Season 2 North American Series 4, they placed 5th-8th.

The players had the potential for further development, but the lack of a unified vision, internal disputes, and lack of stable leadership led to the collapse. Party Astronauts were not even able to finish the season, and their prospects for the future completely disappeared.

Commentary by Ukrainian player Bogdan ‘ogwizard’ Savula

The Ukrainian player Bogdan ‘ogwizard’ Savula, who was also a member of the team, shared his opinion on the situation exclusively with bo3.gg. He emphasised that although there were disagreements between the players, he did not expect it to lead to a complete breakup.

Like any team, we had our own internal processes, and the difference of opinion between FaNg and Axed/Walco was noticeable. But I had no idea that the situation could go so far. Personally, I felt comfortable playing under Axed, and not only me - others felt good in this system as well.

In his opinion, the decision to replace Walco made no logical sense, as the team was making progress:

We enjoyed working with Walco, and the replacement that happened, in my opinion, made no logical sense, because the team was making significant progress and all the players improved their individual performance.

The ogwizard also noted that he was most surprised by the communication in the team:

I'm very disappointed with the way the communication was structured in this situation. As I said, I didn't think things would turn out this way, as the reasons for the changes seemed frivolous to me. What surprised me the most was that the decision was made behind my back, and I was one of the last to find out about the replacement. In my opinion, such issues should be discussed with the whole team, because it affects everyone. It was a shock for me.

According to him, the team's main problem was the tense relationship between FaNg and Walco. The other players did not have such conflicts, so the decision to change the line-up seemed unjustified:

The main reason was obviously the tension between FaNg and Walco, the differences of opinion and the claims made by FaNg. However, I don't think these differences were so critical as to lead to drastic decisions. The other players did not have similar problems, so the situation seemed to be more of a one-man problem than a team problem.

In the end, organisational mistakes led to Party Astronauts losing the opportunity to play in the ECL, as all the roster mobs had already been used. This finally closed the way for the band's further existence:

And the icing on the cake was that after all these decisions, people didn't even read the ECL rules and didn't know that all the roster mos had already been used. As a result, all of our options for change were exhausted, and this basically killed the team completely.
  Bogdan ‘ogwizard’ Savula

The collapse of Party Astronauts was the result of internal conflicts, lack of clear leadership, and poor management decisions. Although the team had the potential to grow, the lack of trust between the players and the lack of a professional approach to team management led to its collapse.
