The week-long tournament IEM Rio 2024 has started, featuring some of the best teams in CS. After the first round of Group A, FURIA, MOUZ, NAVI, and Liquid advanced to the upper bracket semifinals.
Match Details of IEM Rio
In the match between FaZe and FURIA, the latter sensationally defeated FaZe, surprising with their play. Despite the first half ending in a tied score of 6-6, the Brazilians showcased an incredible defense in the second half and managed to win 13-7.
MOUZ and paiN also showed good performance. Despite losing the first half to MOUZ, they exhibited excellent defense in the second half, winning with a score of 13-11.
In the match between Liquid and Complexity, the first half ended with an 8-4 score in favor of Liquid. In the second half, Liquid continued to play well and finished the game with a 13-6 victory.
No surprises occurred in the match between NAVI and Imperial, except for NAVI breaking their 2-month losing streak on Nuke. Previously, they lost to four teams: SAW, G2, Vitality, and Eternal Fire. They ended their streak with a confident 13-2 score.

Best Player after All Matches
The best player from Group A in the first match of the new tournament was Lucas "lux" Meneghini. Despite his team's defeat, he achieved a rating of 8.6, which is impressive against a strong opponent like MOUZ.

Details of IEM Rio 2024
IEM Rio 2024 started today and will run until the 13th. The tournament will have two stages, starting with a group stage featuring double elimination, with the best CS2 teams participating. The playoffs will take place at the Farmasi arena, where the top three teams from each group will compete.
The grand final is scheduled for 20:00 local time, preceded by an exhibition match called "All-Star Hour" two hours before. The participants for this match are still unknown, but will be announced closer to the tournament's final.
Upcoming Matches
In the upper bracket semifinals, NAVI will face Liquid, and FURIA will compete against MOUZ. All teams have a chance to lose without being eliminated as they will drop to the lower bracket. However, the teams in the lower bracket will play for elimination today, and two teams will already be heading home.
