Changes in rank distribution after CS2 competition mode update

Leetify has published statistics of rank distribution before and after the recent update of the competitive mode in CS. Before the update, a player needed 10 wins to get a rank, but now only two wins are enough.

According to the graph before the update, the majority of players were at the ranks of Silver 2 (20.3%), Silver 4 (16.5%), Silver 3 (15.7%) and Elite Silver (14.5%). The percentage of players at higher ranks was much smaller, an example of such a rank is Master Guardian Elite, they were very few or non-existent in general, the percentage itself was 0.0%

After the update, the rank distribution has changed drastically. Most players are now in the middle of the table, with ranks from Gold Nova 1 to Gold Nova 3 dominating, with percentages of 14.6%, 14.4%, and 14.0% respectively. This shows a significant shift in the ranking curve towards higher ranks due to the ease of rank up and recalibration with the new update.

It is interesting to note that previously high ranked ranks such as Master Guardian Elite now hold 2.2% of all competitive mode players. Previously it was 0.0%, indicating that the update has made it easier for players to raise their rank in competitive mode.

Thus, the change in the ranking system has significantly affected the distribution of players by ranks, which can be interpreted as an attempt to make the game more accessible and motivating for players of different skill levels.
