Background
For ALTERNATE aTTaX, the Dash 1 tournament was their first appearance in 8 years, having reached the tournament through open qualification. For most, they were not a threat, but they had a shot. In the first match they gave Complexity a fight, but lost 2-0, taking 17 rounds in two maps, which is something few teams can do.
It was an important match for both teams, because the loser will leave the tournament and will not be able to fight further. At the map selection, the teams had equal chances on paper, as each had the best map and one equal.
Match Details
The first map was Anubis, where the first half ended with a close score of 7-5 in favor of Falcons, but after a 5 round losing streak ALTERNATE aTTaX had no chance, but they tried to get back in the game. Bringing the map to a score of 12-11, but unfortunately they were unable to take the game to extra rounds and lost with a score of 13-11.
The second map was Mirage, where Falcons had a great attack and ended the half with a score of 7-5. In the second half, ALTERNATE aTTaX tried to give a fight to Falcons but they failed to win the match. Falcons took 6 rounds and won with a score of 13-9.
The best player of the match was Pavle "maden" Bošković, who had a great series and finished it with a 7.0 rating and 36/27 KD statistic.
Standings
Falcons advanced to the next stage of the lower Play-In grid, where they will meet BIG for the right to participate in the main stage of IEM Cologne. Should BIG win, they will qualify for the main stage of the tournament for the first time in three years, which is very important for the home team.
ALTERNATE aTTaX left the tournament in last place, earning an eye-watering $2,500.
